We would like to introduce you to Chelsea, a care assistant for Radfield Home Care Liverpool South.

Tell us about your previous care work/career background.

"I worked in a factory for 7 years and always knew in the back of my mind that I would like to go into care work. This was really influenced by my experience of looking after my Nan who had cancer - it really made me realise just how important it was to have someone there that could care for you. I knew I needed a career change and when I had my little boy it put life into perspective. It was time to look for a different opportunity, one that was more rewarding."

What has inspired you to want to be involved in the adult social care sector.

"My experience with my Nan inspired me. I like the idea of going to work and the job actually making a difference to somebody’s life and the positive feeling you get yourself that you are helping others and feeling yourself that it made a difference."

Why Radfield Home Care agency?

"I read the positive client and care professional reviews about Radfield online. You hear such a lot of negative stuff about care workers and care companies in general and Radfield wasn’t like that. I didn’t want to be associated with a company that had any negativity associated with them."

How did you get to hear about the job opportunity?

"I saw the job advertised online on the Indeed website."

What are your career aspirations?

"I’m happy where I am at the minute, but always ready and keen to do any extra training that comes up that will help me carry out my work as a care professional."

Any special moments with clients you would like to share?

"For me this is really about making close bonds with my clients. I am quite close to a lady who has a brain injury and I get on really well with the client and family."

Do you have any inspiring photos/memories you may wish to share?

"My management team always notices the hard work and quality home care we provide. Sometimes we get cards and chocolate for recognition when we’ve gone the extra mile, it’s really lovely."

What do you love most about your job and working for Radfield Home Care?

"I like being somewhere where I am making a difference. It’s incredibly fulfilling. I’ve got a good manager who helps me want to achieve more, which is worth a lot to me!"
