Job Title:

Care Supervisor.

Location:

Stafford.

Reporting to:

Care Manager.

Salary:

Competitive, Enhancement on Senior Carer rate of pay for supervisory work. On call duties remunerated separately.

Hours:

Full-time or Part-time, Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.

Requirements: 

Enhanced DBS disclosure / DBS adult first clearance.

Job Purpose:

To support the care manager in the day-to-day management of client care, to undertake client assessments and reviews, moving and handling assessments and risk assessments. To participate in the on-call rota, provide leadership and in-field training & supervision to members of the care team across all geographical areas of operation.

Required:

The main skills and qualities that we look for in our Home Care Supervisors are:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Care of the Elderly (or equivalent qualification)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Care of the Elderly (or equivalent qualification) and/or relevant experience
  • Genuine interest in working with the relevant Client group
  • Experience of working with the relevant Client group
  • Genuine interest in training, supervising and supporting care staff
  • Satisfactory completion of Radfield Home Care’s induction programme and a minimum of 3 months of exemplary service after induction is completed
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Good availability to work across the shift patterns of the Company’s operating hours
  • Able to fully participate in the requirements of the on call rota
  • Full Driving License
  • Satisfactory Police Check and check against the DBS Adult First List (where applicable)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Staff Members contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the Care Service, and to the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of Clients.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Clients' personal and financial affairs, and instil this ethos into new carers.
  • Undertake Client Assessments & Reviews in line with the Company’s policies and procedures to facilitate a professional and personal care service which meets the client’s needs.
  • Undertake Moving & Handling Assessments in line with the latest guidance and company policies to ensure clients safety & wellbeing and the safety of care staff.
  • Undertake Risk Assessments in line with the Company’s policies and procedures to ensure safe working practice at all times.
  • Participate in the on-call rota system when requested by the manager.
  • Provide effective on-call support to clients and carers and report to manager with any issues and concerns.
  • Follow on-call procedures including the prioritisation and covering of care calls when necessary
  • Understand and implement the requirements of the company’s Adult Protection Policies, including the suspension of staff from duties. Understand and implement the Company’s emergency situation procedures when on-call.

Communication:

  • Maintain an awareness of all routines related to the Care Service.
  • Arrange / participate in Staff and Client meetings, as and when required.
  • Liaise with senior Staff Members and Care Staff to ensure that the highest standard of service is provided.
  • Complete paperwork and reports to a high standard.

Supervision:

  • Undertake scheduled spot checks and supervised visits on carers work when requested by the manager and feedback effectively to support the training and development of team members.
  • Undertake supervised visits with staff members to facilitate the development of professional skills and support the development and training of the staff care team.
  • Work with the Care Managers and staff team to ensure the best outcomes for clients at all times & set high personal standards of care to instil good practice into new members of the care team.

Training and Development:

  • Supervise and instruct junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work, giving help and guidance where appropriate and assisting managers to keep records up to date.
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
  • Assist in the delivery of staff meeting training as requested by the care manager.

Health and Safety:

  • Report immediately to the Domiciliary Care Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
  • Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Domiciliary Service’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
  • Report to the Care Managers any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
  • Promote safe working practice at all times.

General:

  • Adhere to the Skills for Care Code of Practice for Social Care Workers.
  • Adhere to the companies Equal Opportunities policies in all dealings with staff and clients.
  • Maintain such log books and records as may be required by both the Registering Authority and the Directors of the Company.
  • Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
  • Notify the Care Managers as soon as possible of your inability to work, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
  • Pay maximum attention to security at all times.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.

All staff are required to adhere to the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to comply with requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.

All staff must be familiar with Radfield Home Care Ltd’s health and safety policies and procedures and ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 of which we can provide copies if needed.
