SAND is a community organisation whose goal is to improve the experiences and increase the expectations of LGBT+ people as they age in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. We believe that if we can identify and address the barriers that impact on LGBT+ well being in later life, bring about change in organisations’ working practice, tap into influential policy-making channels – then we can fundamentally influence the way in which LGBT+ people and those who care for them experience – and expect to experience – ageing. For more on what SAND stands for, read the information booklet, SAND Matters, available here.
Visit SiteShropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) provide emergency response services for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, operating with 46 vehicles plus specialist appliances. Alongside this, their prevention and protection services help educate and protect the communities and businesses they serve to avoid fires happening in the first place.
Radfield works with SFRS to assess the safety of clients’ homes and arrange free Safe and Well visits from SFRS. The home visit is to ensure awareness of potential hazards within the home so that appropriate action may be taken to keep the property safe from fire. SFRS also fit free smoke alarms if required.
