We would like to introduce you to Pauline Morris, care coordinator for Radfield Home Care Liverpool North & Sefton. Pauline is responsible for the creation and management of the rotas for clients and carers, liaising with clients, families and professionals to manage care needs and staff deployment and supporting the registered manager with safe running of the office.

Pauline brings with her almost a decade of experience in the care industry. Prior to finding her calling in care, Pauline worked in retail management for seventeen years!

Pauline started her journey as a Care Professional, where she stayed for two years. As a naturally caring person, she fit perfectly into the role. Pauline then moved into the role of supervisor where she stayed for four years.

Pauline tells us:

“I was still doing care calls mixed with supervising a team of Care Professionals to ensure correct standards of care were delivered. I would visit clients to ensure care plans were up to date and they were happy with their care and conducting spot checks, supervisions, training and welfare of the team.”

Pauline has vast experience in the field providing care which has given her an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing both clients and Care Professionals every day. This understanding of the industry makes her ideal for the role of Care Coordinator.

“I was aware of how challenging the role could be but also satisfying and it’s good to have experienced the problems that can occur in care rather than have to visualise situations.”

Alongside being an absolute care powerhouse, Pauline is also a ‘Dignity in Care Champion’

Dignity in Care Champions are willing to:

  • Stand up and challenge disrespectful behaviour
  • Act as good role models by treating other people with respect, particularly those who are less able to stand up for themselves
  • Speak up about dignity to improve the way that services are organised and delivered
  • Influence and inform colleagues
  • Listen to and understand the views and experiences of citizens.

Pauline’s motivations for joining the world of care stem from her own experiences of care.

“I cared for my late partner when he was diagnosed with throat cancer for five years alone, and looking back on that time I realise how little help I received. There was a distinct lack of dignity and respect towards him and his care and luckily things have changed since then, so when I was given the chance to opt for a whole new career change, this was a good choice for me.”

“I hope that I can be of help to our clients and Care Professionals, making their life and roles that bit better and enjoyable. I will treat all people, not just clients as I would like to be treated myself, with respect, patience and dignity and if I can make somebody smile along the way, bonus!”
