Caring for a loved one, inspired Dominique to start her career in care – Dominique’s story

We would like to introduce you to Dominique Rowland, care administrator for Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings & Battle.

Tell us about your previous work/career background.

I have worked in care for about 10 years. I have worked for various care companies gaining more experience. I have been a field care supervisor and a care coordinator. I have loved all job roles that I have been in.

What has inspired you to want to be involved in the care sector?

My grandad was diagnosed with acute dementia and I started looking after him with shopping, cleaning and his personal care. I enjoyed helping him so I decided to get a career in care to help others.

Why Radfield Home Care?

They treat their staff amazingly and help out when they can. Their training is specific and I learnt some new things. I am treated as one of the team.

How did you get to hear about the job opportunity?

I heard about the role, from a friend who works for Radfield Home Care.

What are your career aspirations?

I would love to eventually become a business manager or registered manager for the office.

Any special moments with clients you would like to share?

I enjoy meeting the clients so I know who I am talking too. I enjoy doing the care calls and finding out about the clients and their lives.

What do you love most about your job and working for Radfield Home Care?

I love how the office team and carers welcomed me with open arms. It’s such a nice place to work and we all help each other out. I love that the office team made Christmas goodie bags for all their clients. I’ve not seen this done before. The clients loved them!

I also love how Samuel, the owner and director fully understands care and is always happy to support the care team by carrying out care calls himself when needed.
