Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port are passionate about supporting the people, places and organisations that help our local community thrive. That is why we were proud to support this year’s Chester Duck Race; a much-loved community event that brings families, businesses and local charities together along the River Dee.
Organised by The Countess Charity in support of Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, this year’s Chester Duck Race raised more than £25,000 for the Extra Mile Appeal. The funds raised will help provide an additional ultrasound scanner for the hospital, supporting vital care for people across Chester and the surrounding areas.
As part of our involvement, our Radfield duck quickly became a much-loved member of the team. In the lead up to the race, we held a special naming competition involving both our clients and Care Professionals, giving everyone the chance to get involved and share their ideas. The winning name, Radfield Racer, was chosen by Angela, one of our wonderful Care Professionals.
Ahead of race day, Radfield Racer enjoyed visiting clients at our day centre and quickly became a fun talking point among both clients and team members. From photos and activities to friendly conversations and lots of laughter, the duck helped bring smiles to people’s faces and created a real sense of excitement in the lead up to the event.
Although Radfield Racer did not take home the winning title on the day, she certainly did us proud, and we absolutely loved supporting such a fantastic local event.

The race day itself was a gloriously sunny day in Chester, with large crowds gathering along the River Dee to cheer on the ducks and support the cause. The atmosphere was full of excitement, laughter and community spirit as families, local businesses and supporters came together for an important fundraising event.
The Chester Duck Race continues to be a fantastic community tradition that not only raises vital funds for local healthcare services, but also brings people together in a fun and uplifting way. We were delighted to be part of such a positive event supporting an incredibly worthwhile cause.

At Radfield Home Care, we are committed to supporting local charities and organisations that make a meaningful difference across Chester and Cheshire. We believe strong communities play an important role in helping people age well, reducing loneliness and helping people remain connected to the places and people that matter most to them.
Whether through fundraising, sponsorship, volunteering or attending community events, we are proud to support initiatives that bring people together and create positive experiences for local families.
Events like the Chester Duck Race are a wonderful reminder of the power of community spirit and the difference that can be made when people come together for a shared cause.

At the heart of everything we do is our belief that ageing should not mean losing connection to hobbies, friendships and community life. Our Care Professionals support older people across Chester to remain independent at home while continuing to enjoy the activities, events and routines that are important to them.
From companionship and visiting care to more comprehensive support, we provide personalised home care services that help people continue living life their way. Supporting community events such as the Chester Duck Race reflects our wider purpose of helping the nation age well by remaining connected to the things that matter most.
