Chair Yoga: Promoting health and inclusivity in Barnet

Embracing the ethos of inclusivity, community, and wellbeing, Radfield Home Care Care Professionals in Barnet have started an innovative chair yoga initiative. This initiative has supported those living in Goodwin Court, Sanctuary Retirement Apartment. We believe that everyone deserves to enjoy life and activities that bring joy and health, irrespective of limited mobility or disability.

Battling Isolation through Chair Yoga

At Radfield Home Care Barnet & Finchley we understand the importance of maintaining a strong community spirit. Often, older people may feel isolated due to limited mobility, or other physical constraints. This motivated us to introduce chair yoga, a practice that allows individuals to engage in a group activity while sitting or standing using a chair for support. Not only does this create an opportunity to combat isolation, but it also gives people a chance to reconnect with an exercise they once enjoyed, adapted to their current abilities. We are proud of the progress we have made towards helping our residents restore their sense of belonging.

Improving health and wellbeing

Chair yoga, as guided by our dedicated Care Professional, Sue, offers numerous health benefits. Participants, including out clients and other local residents in Barnet have reported sleeping better following these regular sessions, enhancing their overall wellbeing. The sessions encourage gentle stretching, improve flexibility and mobility, and contribute to a sense of peace and relaxation. We believe our residents deserve these benefits, and we are committed to providing this service to enrich their lives.
Promoting and supporting our community

At Radfield Home Care, we strive to promote and support our local community in every facet of our work. Our chair yoga initiative represents a clear commitment to this value. The sessions are open to all local residents. A resident expressed her happiness. She said:

“These sessions are fantastic because I’m able to do yoga again, and I’m seeing so many residents I don’t usually see.”

Her voice echoes our mission to create an inclusive, diverse and unified living environment for our beloved residents in the UK.
