Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry recognises the importance of working in partnership with local education providers to support young people in developing the skills and experience needed for future employment.
On the 10 November 2025, Shrewsbury College hosted a Business Speed Networking event, bringing together employers and a new cohort of T Level Business students who are seeking long-term industry placements in Shropshire.
Rachel, our Recruitment and Training Manager, attended the event to represent the organisation and strengthen our relationship with the college and local education partners.
During the event, Rachel delivered a five-minute presentation outlining the opportunities within our organisation and explaining the types of placements that could be available within an office environment.
The event allowed employers to meet students directly through a speed networking format, where short interviews took place with each student.
This provided students with the opportunity to discuss their interests, demonstrate their communication skills, and learn more about the expectations of working within a professional environment. It also enabled employers to identify students who might be interested in a care career in Shrewsbury, and may benefit from practical workplace experience.
The students attending the event are studying a T Level in Business (Management and Administration), a two-year Level 3 qualification designed for young people aged 16–19. The qualification is equivalent to three A Levels and combines 80% classroom learning with a 45-day industry placement (approximately 315 hours).
The course has been designed with employer input to ensure students gain relevant knowledge and practical skills in areas such as:
Students completing the qualification gain experience in areas including business administration, HR, marketing, and team leadership, preparing them for employment, higher apprenticeships, or further study.
By attending this event and engaging with students, our organisation demonstrates a commitment to supporting the local Shrewsbury community, developing future talent, and promoting career opportunities within the social care sector.
Offering placements provides students with valuable workplace exposure while allowing our organisation to contribute to the development of skilled and motivated young people entering the workforce.
We are pleased to announce that we have the pleasure of Savannah who has joined us and will be part of the team for the next 2 years working every Monday.
