Local ‘Buzzinesses’ celebrate the national honey bee

Local businesses came together to celebrate National Honeybee Day on Saturday 19th August 2017. Radfield Home Care, St. Peter’s Garden Centre, Beowulf Honey and Reconnections all worked together as ‘busy as bees’ and created some great awareness to the importance and significance of bees.

Sarah Bosher, Business Development Manager at Radfield Home Care Worcester commented,

“What better way to celebrate the day by promoting the importance of bees and also their significance. The similarity of the bees working together to help each other, is just what we do in our caring business. The bee is symbolic of fertility, community, prosperity, diligence and work ethic, all of which are truly important when providing a high quality home care service within the community.”

Paul Whitfield, the local Beekeeper from Beowulf Honey explained,

“I was thrilled to be asked by Radfield to be part of this special day and really enjoyed help organise a great event.”

Likewise, Sophie Pryce of Reconnections (Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire) was delighted to be asked to take part, saying that,

“This is a great opportunity to not only celebrate the day, but realise how, like the bees, Reconnections play an important part in reconnecting lonely older people; putting them back in touch with their community with long-forgotten friends, hobbies and activities – just like the bees and their community.”

All three business were very grateful to St. Peter’s Garden Centre for allowing them to celebrate the day within their garden centre. There was plenty of fun and activities throughout the day for both adults and children, as well as yummy honey tasting, bee facts and recipes too!

Angela, Registered Care Manager of Radfield Worcester branch commented,

“We would like to say a big thank you to all of the visitors that popped along and made the day a huge success. It was great to have the opportunity to chat to everyone about the services we offer and we hope to be part of this great event next year.”
