Helen Gormley

Care Coordinator

About Helen

We would like to introduce you to Helen Gormley, care coordinator for Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern.

Helen is responsible for the creation and management of the rotas for clients and carers, liaising with clients, families and professionals to manage care needs and staff deployment and supporting the registered manager with the safe running of the office.

Helen started in the care industry working part-time as a carer after her first child was born. She enjoyed her role as a carer so much that she’s stayed in the industry ever since.

As her child grew, so did her ambition to progress and take on more of a challenging role. This is where Helen found herself working at Radfield Home Care as a field care supervisor. She wanted to be responsible for making positive changes to people’s lives.

Helen has recently been promoted to care coordinator and her previous experience as field care supervisor has been invaluable. She tells us:

“Taking on the role as care supervisor gave me an insight to on-call, planning rotas, managing time and my team, communicating with clients and their families. This instantly drove me to want more responsibility and even more challenging work.”

Helen’s interest in the care sector began when she was younger, watching care professionals look after her grandpa. Helen says:

“He was not well and I saw the carers gave him so much dignity and respect when they provided the care to him. I wanted to ensure the people I supported and cared for were happy and treated as an individual as this is how I saw my grandpa being supported.”

In her role, Helen gets to communicate with lots of different people and has to adapt to a variety of situations. She has learnt that whilst caring for people, a good listening ear is key to providing people with comfort and companionship.
