A Family Facing Change

Back in 2012, my family faced a challenge many local families will recognise. My mum, living with dementia, had begun to forget how to cook and manage daily routines. My dad, always loving and devoted, suddenly found himself responsible for caring for her while managing the home, a task that became increasingly difficult over time.

Though our family were close and supportive, nobody lived nearby. The pressure on my dad was growing, and something had to change.

The Turning Point: Choosing Live in Care

At a family event, it became obvious my parents were really struggling, and the family made a collective decision to introduce live in care into their home.

My parents had been very clear that they wanted to stay in the comfort of their own home for as long as possible. They did not want to live in a care home. Live in care offered safety, reassurance and companionship while allowing them to remain together in the home they loved.

Despite the financial considerations, we realised live in care provided the best balance. It preserved their independence, dignity and comfort in familiar surroundings and enabled all the family to continue visiting and staying in the family home whenever we wanted.

For five years, my parents received compassionate, consistent support from dedicated live in Care Professionals. The positive impact on their lives was profound and it changed the course of my career.

From Accountant to Care Advocate

Inspired by the difference live in care made for my parents, I made a life-changing decision. I left my corporate career as an accountant and launched my Radfield Home Care franchise in Liverpool North & Sefton, supported by the national office in Shrewsbury.

Since then, I have never looked back. Today, I work alongside Director of Operations, Denys Hall, and a loyal team who have been together for more than seven years. Our shared passion for helping people stay safe, comfortable and connected at home is at the heart of everything we do.
