Helen Millichamp - Office Administrator

We would like to introduce you to Helen, office administrator for Radfield Home Care Harrogate, Wetherby and North Yorkshire. Helen provides support in the office, working with the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth running of the office. Helen will support with a variety of administrative tasks including HR, Recruitment, ensuring that relevant IT software systems are up to date and dealing with queries from carers and clients.

Helen joined Radfield as a care professional in September 2019 and spent over a year gaining valuable experience caring for our clients before taking up her administration role. Having previously worked as a journalist for over 12 years, as a senior reporter, this role is well suited to her experience of office work. Helen explains:



“As a journalist I spent the majority of the day sitting at a computer typing up stories so I know my way around a computer and various IT systems, different software and technology. I also spent a long time building up a rapport with contacts - which has stood me in good stead for dealing with client and carer enquiries.”



Moving into the social care sector felt like a natural move to Helen as this is something that had become very important to her on a personal level and she is always on hand to provide support to our clients:



“I’ve always liked to look after people, looking after my Mum when she was ill gave me a small insight into the life of a carer. I think that life experience gives me the skills I need to be compassionate towards our clients. We work with clients from all walks of life with varying needs, from those that are fairly independent and just need a bit of support to those that need hoisting and full personal care - working in both the care side of the business as well as in the office I get the full package.”
