The Radfield Home Care network was recognised with high commendation as the “Best home care group or franchise network” and the Radfield Home Care Stamford, Peterborough & Rutland office was similarly recognised with a high commendation as the “Best start-up home care service or new franchisee.” Though, the biggest winner in the Radfield network was definitely Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Dewsbury, which was the overall winner in the “Response to the Coronavirus pandemic” category.

Best Coronavirus response, recognising dedication to providing exceptional care

Dr Hannah MacKechnie, director & co-founder of Radfield Home Care said:

“We wouldn’t be here without the hundreds of phenomenal Care Professionals in our network who go out in their communities to actively help people lead fulfilling lives; so I would like to start by thanking each and every one of them. Winning the Response to the Coronavirus pandemic category is a testament to their fantastic work in the most challenging of circumstances.

“I would also like to thank our diligent network of franchise partners for their commitment to providing exceptional care, and the Homecareawards too, for recognising our dedication to being the home care provider of choice.

“We have had a busy 2022, launching new businesses, rolling out a fresh brand and identity, and expanding our network to help the nation age well and we look forward to another outstanding year ahead.”

Jackie Gillen, director & owner of Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Dewsbury, which won the “Response to the Coronavirus pandemic” category said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for the team and I am so proud of them. They have worked so hard through the pandemic to keep our clients and our Care Professionals safe, while also delivering exceptional care. I really cannot commend them enough, they have done an outstanding job and this award recognises that.”

James Beech director & owner of Radfield Home Care Stamford, Peterborough & Rutland which received High Commendation as the “Best start-up home care service or new franchisee” added:

“I was enormously proud of my team when we were rated as Outstanding by the CQC, and now, once again they have proven to be exceptional. We opened our office in 2019, shortly before the Covid pandemic struck and I think it was during this time of adversity that the team truly arose to support older people in our community at a time when they were at their most vulnerable. I would like to thank every individual member of my team, they do fantastic and important work; I am very grateful to them.”

Initiatives behind delivering home care during a pandemic

When covid-19 hit the UK, Radfield Home Care had to put measures in place to protect clients and staff while complying with Government guidance.  There was a rapid amount of changing information provided, which had to be responded to and put in place, alongside supporting staff teams and clients to remain safe and connected.

At Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Dewsbury, Jackie and her team introduced a number of measures to ensure their dedicated care team were fully trained, supported and recognised for their hard work and dedication through regular team celebrations and online events.

Care Professionals were paid annual bonuses, were sent regular thank you cards, and as a thank you, they were each provided with a  ‘carer survival kit’ during the second lockdown. The office also provided free healthcare and mental health support to their team to ensure they looked after their health and wellbeing.

Along with supporting their care team, Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Dewsbury undertook a number of measures to reduce loneliness and isolation for clients, helping them stay connected to the things that matter most to them. The office arranged surprises for their clients to brighten their day during the lockdown, such as pamper sessions, personalised gifts, and support contacting family and friends online.

The home care provider also added in companionship visits or more visits if needed to provide clients with more company throughout the week. Every client was sent a personalised treat box including a plant pot with seeds, crosswords, quizzes, tea, coffee, biscuits, chocolate and fudge and a personalised card.
