Radfield Home Care is a business built on a very clear sense of purpose. That purpose is the same today as it was more than 35 years ago when franchisors Alex Green and GP Dr. Hannah MacKechnie’s parents first set up the Radfield business as a residential care home for the elderly in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
As the world has changed in many ways since then, the business has continued to be a leader in home care innovation. Under the vision, passion and leadership of brother and sister Alex and Hannah, Radfield Home Care is now a fast-growing, home care business, operating nationally through a network of Franchise Partners and providing exceptional care and support to clients and their families every day.
“We love bringing new Franchise Partners on board because it’s like adding another member to our family. We’ve run local offices ourselves, so we know what it’s like and we know what it takes. If you’re approachable, enjoy meeting new people, a good listener and also willing to put yourself forward then we’d be very keen to hear from you. As our franchise family grows so does the impact we have and that’s what makes it such an exciting opportunity.”
Our story begins when Alex and Hannah’s parents, Chris and John, set up and opened Radfield Residential Home on Kennedy Road, Shrewsbury.
Hannah qualified as a doctor and then a GP, working across the UK and in New Zealand, while Alex worked in finance for companies such as HSBC and Halifax and a number of charitable organisations.
Spotting a need for local, quality home care, Alex and Hannah set up the first Radfield Home Care office in Shrewsbury. Working out of the garage adjacent to the residential home in the great entrepreneurial tradition.
Winning our first award was a proud moment for the whole team and recognition of Radfield’s achievements. We have since continued to consistently win awards for our service.
Given our commitment to investing in local communities and workforces, it was a natural move to launch Radfield’s franchising operation and extend our services to other areas.
The introduction of our industry-leading Caring for our Carers pledge made it clear how important our people are and what we promised to do in order to support them in providing exceptional care to our clients across all our local offices.
By 2017 national expansion plans were in action and we had three more franchise branches on board; Havering & Brentwood, Herefordshire & South Shropshire, and Bexhill Hastings & Battle.
In 2017 we hosted our first Franchise Forum, bringing together our franchise partners and National Office team to share ideas and unite our network under collective goals and initiatives.
As our business continued to grow, we added a number of new members to our National Office team, bringing a range of expertise and experience to support the Radfield franchise network.
We moved into our National Office in Shoplatch, Shrewsbury, where our franchise support team are based. The team increasingly spend time on the road meeting with our franchise partners around the country.
We were delighted to win a highly prestigious accolade; the British Franchise Association’s HSBC Emerging Franchisor of the Year 2019.
Enhancing the support provided for franchise partners, we introduced monthly Data Review calls. These calls allow us to directly address issues being faced by the office and assess performance figures in order to create an effective bespoke business strategy.
A natural next step from the Franchise Forum events was the introduction of a forum for Registered Care Managers. These educational forums support the network to provide exceptional levels of care and ensure we are united behind our mission.
Following on from the Registered Care Managers Forum we introduced surgery sessions. The sessions bring together the collective experience and training of the network to provide Care Managers with the training to approach their role with confidence.
One day simply was not enough to cover everything we and our franchise partners wanted to discuss. Starting with the November 2021 forum we extended the event into a 2-day get together, packed with presentations, workshops and idea sharing.
In early 2022 we launched our fresh new logo, colours, website and Be There messaging. We are on a mission to help the nation age well by remaining connected to the things that matter the most to them. We do this by being there for our Care Professionals, for our clients, and for the wider community.
Radfield continues to grow and expand not only the local network of franchise partners but also the impact our teams have in the communities in which they work. The business made significant investments to support growth and set up success for the long term.
We believe exceptional care starts with exceptional people. That’s why our team is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to make it personal and be a bit different in the way we think and work.
Meet our teamOur franchise network and all our partners are a trusted family. We empower them to run their businesses with warmth and respect.
We understand, listen, and act as caring advocates, to support our franchise partners in building their own, successful businesses.
