At Radfield Home Care North Leeds & Ilkley, community is at the heart of everything we do.
Over the past year, our team has had the privilege of working closely with Guiseley Senior Citizens, a local charity dedicated to helping older people stay connected, active and engaged within their community. Through social activities, events, outings and friendship, the organisation provides invaluable support to older people across Guiseley, Aireborough and the surrounding areas.
To help support their work, members of our North Leeds & Ilkley team recently took on a significant challenge.
On Friday, 22nd May, a group of walkers set off from Radfield’s Harrogate office and completed a 45-kilometre sponsored walk to our Guiseley office via the Cow and Calf on Ilkley Moor.
The walk took place during one of the hottest days of the year so far, with temperatures reaching around 26 degrees. Despite the challenging conditions, the team remained determined to complete the route and raise as much money as possible for local charities.
We’re delighted to share that the event has raised more than £1,500 so far, with £750 being allocated directly to Guiseley Senior Citizens.
One of the highlights of the day was having Candy from Guiseley Senior Citizens join us for the entire walk. Covering 45 kilometres in warm temperatures was an incredible achievement, and having representatives from the charity alongside the team throughout the challenge served as a constant reminder of why we were taking part.
As a home care provider supporting older people across North Leeds, Guiseley, Yeadon, Rawdon, Menston and Ilkley, we regularly see the positive impact that community organisations can have on people’s wellbeing.
While quality care at home plays an important role in helping people remain independent, community groups often provide something equally valuable: opportunities for friendship, conversation and connection.
Loneliness and social isolation remain significant challenges for many older people. Organisations such as Guiseley Senior Citizens help address this by creating welcoming spaces where people can meet others, take part in activities and continue enjoying an active social life.
Through our partnership with the charity, we’ve seen first-hand the difference these opportunities make.
At Radfield Home Care North Leeds & Ilkley, we believe supporting older people extends beyond providing care in the home.
Whether it’s attending community events, partnering with local organisations or fundraising for charities that share our values, we are committed to helping make North Leeds, Guiseley and Ilkley great places to grow older.
