Having spent many years running her own farm alongside her family, farming remains a significant part of Joyce’s identity, bringing her both pride and joy. When our Client Care Coordinator, Dianne, learnt this, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity for our next Be There outing in the Cheshire countryside.
Nestled close to Chester and Ellesmere Port, Mootrition Milk Bar at Huntington Hall Farm offered the perfect setting for Joyce’s day out. Upon arrival, Joyce was visibly happy to be greeted by the familiar sight of the farm’s cows and lambs, evoking fond memories. During the visit, Dianne and Chris enjoyed listening to Joyce share stories from her farming days. The experience sparked happy memories and gave Joyce the chance to reminisce about her life on the farm, surrounded by the animals and countryside she loves.
Following our visit to Mootrition Farm, Dianne, Chris, and Joyce enjoyed a peaceful walk around Christleton Pond, a local natural spot near Chester. This part of the day was particularly special to Joyce, who appreciated the fresh air and wildlife. Joyce delighted in watching the geese on the water and spotting various birds along the way.
Spending time outdoors offers many benefits for older people. It plays an important role in supporting mental wellbeing, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Therefore, when the opportunity arose to extend the outing with some time in nature, Dianne and Chris could not resist. Joyce expressed her gratitude for the experience, letting us know how much she valued the chance to reconnect with familiar surroundings near Chester and Ellesmere Port.
