Radfield summer BBQ: Celebrating the people behind our care

At Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port, we believe that exceptional care starts with valued people. Our annual summer BBQ is one of our favourite traditions, offering a chance to celebrate the dedicated team behind the support we deliver across our local community every single day.

Hosted by our Director Julie at her home, the gathering gives everyone who can attend an opportunity to relax, enjoy fantastic food and drinks, and simply spend quality time in each other’s company away from daily routines.

When considering what makes a good home care employer, workplace culture, supportive management, and genuine recognition are at the top of the list for both experienced carers and those looking to enter social care.

Our team carries out vital work, and taking time to recognise their dedication is at the heart of our culture.

More than just a summer BBQ

The summer party is Julie’s way of saying a personal thank you to the entire team for their ongoing hard work. Because our Care Professionals spend much of their time visiting clients individually in their own homes, having dedicated opportunities to reconnect with colleagues and feel part of a close-knit team is essential.

For jobseekers asking how to find a good care company to work for in Chester, looking at staff retention, employee benefits, and social gatherings offers valuable insight into an agency’s day-to-day values. Throughout the year, we maintain a wide range of practical initiatives to support our carers and reward their commitment:

  • Fair pay & travel coverage: We are proud to pay the Living Wage, compensating our Care Professionals for both their travel time and travel costs.

  • Monthly “spin the wheel” rewards: Each month, a team member is recognised for outstanding care and gets to spin the wheel for prizes, ranging from gift vouchers to relaxing massage treatments.

  • Payday breakfasts: Free breakfast vouchers to celebrate payday and bring a smile to the team.

  • Career milestones: Marking service anniversaries, Care Certificate completions, and personal achievements.

Prioritising team support and wellbeing

Looking after our Care Professionals involves far more than financial rewards; it requires clear communication, ongoing training, and genuine appreciation. Understanding what to look for in a home care employer involves checking whether Care Professionals are properly paid for travel time, offered ongoing training, and supported when questions arise.

Our monthly staff meetings provide an open forum to celebrate individual achievements, share business updates, discuss ongoing training, and offer peer support.

People are at the heart of our CQC Outstanding care

Our “Be There” philosophy is all about helping people remain themselves, stay connected to their local community, and live life on their own terms. Our Care Professionals make this possible by building warm, trusting relationships with the people they support.

When local families explore care options, seeing how do top care providers support their staff reveals why CQC Outstanding agencies achieve higher levels of client satisfaction and team morale.

Care Quality Commission (CQC) Outstanding ratings are achieved when a care team feels valued, well-trained, and fully equipped to deliver compassionate, person-centred support.
