Supporting The Hope Centre in Derby

Supporting The Hope Centre in Derby

When you sit down over a steaming mug of tea and a plate of biscuits, the usual barriers tend to melt away. That was certainly the case when Amanda, our Recruitment & Training Manager, and Emma, our Day Centre Coordinator, joined local residents for a coffee morning at The Hope Centre in Derby.

What began as a simple drop-in turned into an afternoon packed with honest conversations, practical advice, and a shared reminder of what strong local communities are all about.

Unpicking the big questions around care

Navigating health and social care options can feel daunting, and many families simply don’t know where to turn when questions arise. Between the chats and catch-ups at the coffee morning, Amanda and Emma found themselves surrounded by people eager for friendly guidance.

Whether attendees were wondering how to arrange a little extra help at home for an elderly neighbour, asking how day centres work, or simply seeking reassurance about supporting an aging parent, our team was on hand with clear answers.

Being able to sit down in a relaxed, non-clinical setting allowed local residents to ask questions at their own pace, without any pressure or jargon.

Turning conversation into practical action

Our visit to the coffee morning builds on a relationship with The Hope Centre that started earlier this year. The centre plays a crucial role in our area, offering dedicated support to people facing difficult circumstances, including older adults, low-income families, single parents, and refugees. Their team works tirelessly to tackle poverty, restore dignity, and provide a safe space where anyone can find 1-to-1 support.

After seeing their work up close during an earlier visit in April, our team, clients, and local supporters rallied together to organise a donation drive.

Amanda and Emma recently returned to The Hope Centre to deliver a basket packed with non-perishable food items and fresh bedding. Seeing how much those essential supplies meant to the centre’s team was a powerful reminder that community support isn’t just about good intentions, it’s about delivering practical help where it is needed most.

Being an active part of the neighbourhood

At Radfield Home Care Derby, Ashbourne & South Derbyshire, we believe that looking after people goes far beyond individual care visits. It is about being a visible, approachable presence in the neighbourhood and backing the brilliant local causes that keep our community connected.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to every client, family member, and team member who contributed to our collection for The Hope Centre. Your generosity has made a tangible difference to local families during challenging times.
