Liz Barrett

Professional Development Lead

About Liz

Liz brings over 40 years of professional experience within the health and social care sector. Driven by a passion for understanding individual needs and helping people live as independently as possible, her journey has taken her from the front lines of nursing to senior learning and development roles, quality assurance, and private counselling.

Having been a family carer for both her mother and her partner, both of whom lived with dementia, Liz understands care acutely from every angle. This lived experience fuels her passion for ensuring Care Professionals feel thoroughly prepared, valued, and supported.

Professional Experience

Liz brings an extraordinarily rich combination of clinical practice, education, quality assurance, and therapeutic support to Radfield Home Care Epsom:

  • Clinical & Specialist Nursing Background: Qualified as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN), rising through roles as Staff Nurse, Nursing Sister, and Clinical Manager, with specialist expertise in mental health, dementia, and Huntington’s disease.
  • 13+ Years in Learning & Development: Extensive experience as a Trainer, NVQ Assessor, and Internal/External Verifier, designing health and social care qualifications and monitoring educational standards across organisations.
  • Domiciliary Care Leadership: Served as Training and Field Support Manager for a home care agency, overseeing staff inductions, field support, and ongoing professional development.
  • Counselling & Well-being Practice: Runs a private counselling practice holding Diplomas in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Clinical Supervision, and Grief & Bereavement Counselling, enriching her ability to foster reflective, supportive learning environments.

Why Home Care?

“I have always been drawn to roles that involve working with people, understanding their individual needs and helping them to live as well and independently as possible. What continues to inspire me is the difference that compassionate, person-centred support can make, not only to the person receiving care but also to their family”

In her role as Professional Development Lead, Liz looks beyond mandatory tick-box training to support a holistic learning journey, from initial induction and competency assessments to ongoing career development.

By linking clinical knowledge and quality assurance with empathy, communication, and real-world reflection, Liz ensures that Radfield’s Care Professionals in Epsom are equipped to provide care where clients feel safe, understood, respected, and valued.
