At Radfield Home Care Bedford & Ampthill, we are proud to support people like Katie, helping them live independently and confidently in their own homes. For just over a year, Katie has been receiving visiting care alongside attending our Adult Day Care Centre at Lavender Court in Ampthill. Her story shows how thoughtful, person centred home care in Bedford & Ampthill can support independence, wellbeing, and connection.
Katie’s journey with us began when her son contacted our team while she was in hospital. With both of her children living some distance away and balancing busy careers, the family wanted reassurance that Katie would be supported with kindness, consistency, and respect once she returned home.
Our Care Professionals support Katie with medication, diabetes, and dementia, while making sure she continues to feel in control of her daily routine. Through regular visits, we provide care at home in Bedford & Ampthill that helps Katie feel safe, supported, and confident in her own home, while offering her family peace of mind.
Katie is a naturally social person who enjoys spending time with others. Alongside visiting care, she attends our day centre in Ampthill, where she can connect with people, enjoy meaningful activities, and remain part of a welcoming community.
This reflects our Be There movement, through which we support Katie to stay connected to the people, places, and routines she loves. By focusing on independence, wellbeing, and connection, our Care Professionals help ensure that Katie’s days are filled with familiar faces, shared conversations, and opportunities to enjoy the activities that bring her happiness and purpose.
She also enjoys short walks with our Care Professionals and often stops at a local coffee shop for a friendly chat. Creativity is an important part of Katie’s life too. She is a talented painter and an avid reader, and our team love talking with her about her artwork and listening to stories from her life in Ireland, London, and Abu Dhabi, as well as memories of her children and grandchildren.
These moments help Katie feel valued, understood, and connected to all the things that matter most to her.
Katie’s story reminds us why person-centred care matters. At Radfield Home Care Bedford & Ampthill, we champion care that people want as well as need, helping our community age well and stay connected to the things that matter most.
