On Wednesday 4th June 2025, we celebrated an incredible milestone at Radfield Home Care Leicester East, Groby & Oadby. Our friendly and welcoming day centre in Leicester East marked its first anniversary, and we brought the community together for a day full of joy, music, connection and shared memories.
Our day centre, held every Wednesday at East Goscote Village Hall, has become a trusted and much-loved hub for local people seeking companionship, engaging activities and a friendly space to socialise and relax. As a leading provider of home care in Leicester East, we are proud to offer this valuable weekly service that complements the support we provide at home.
Over the past year, our Leicester East day centre for older people has provided more than just a place to spend a few hours. It has offered warmth, structure and meaningful interaction. Every Wednesday, from 10am to 2pm, our clients have enjoyed hot lunches provided by Kinds of Queniborough, creative activities, gentle entertainment, and the consistent support of our dedicated Care Professionals.
To mark our first anniversary, we held a special event that brought together individuals, families, local businesses, and community leaders. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy as stalls lined the hall, offering information about local services and support options. Handmade crafts, unique gifts, and sweet treats from local makers added a vibrant touch to the day, providing plenty of opportunities for our visitors to browse, chat, and shop.
A highlight of the celebration came from pupils at a local primary school who created thoughtful Random Acts of Kindness bags. These handmade parcels were gifted to attendees and were met with delight and appreciation. Their kindness showed how all generations can come together to support older people in our communities.
The day continued with a lively musical performance by Lorenzo, a local entertainer whose singalong brought everyone to their feet. The power of music to lift spirits and bring people together was clear as guests clapped and sang along.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood, Councillor David Northage and Jenny Northage, to our event. Their visit was a chance to discuss the positive impact of the day centre and how it contributes to community support for older people in Oadby, Groby and Leicester East. They saw first-hand how important it is to have a consistent space where people can meet, talk, and share experiences.
Throughout the event, guests enjoyed a delicious spread of food and refreshments, with plenty of tea, coffee and homemade cakes on offer. Mealtimes at the day centre are a much-loved part of the day, offering the chance to enjoy a nourishing hot meal and connect with others in a relaxed and friendly setting. Our anniversary event was no exception, with many people sitting together to share food, stories and laughter.
