Band play live to local home care clients

On Saturday, 28th March, husband and wife, John & Hilda, clients of Radfield Home Care Derby, Ashbourne and South Derbyshire received a very special surprise, when through a live video stream, owner and director Sam Adie organised for a local band to play their favourite song ‘Delilah’ to them in the comfort of their own living room.

Hilda & John have been receiving care from Radfield since March 2020 and since getting to know them, it was clear that they loved listening to music, and a Saturday evening seemed like a good night to get together and enjoy their favourite song.

Sam Adie, explains, “They are such a wonderful couple that we adore visiting and caring for. The days are extremely long for them both during the lockdown as they’re not seeing their usual loved ones and visitors.”

“My husband Jon, has played in a local band known as ‘MuckTudge’ for many years and when I explained to him and the rest of the band that we were caring for clients that love music, it was their suggestion that, as a surprise for them both, the band members would play live to them, all independently from their own living rooms.”

“I set up my laptop so that both John & Hilda could see the screen and then I introduced the band. It was a bit of a technical challenge, as all the band members were in different houses, but John and Hilda loved it and it has been a great talking point for weeks.”

Radfield clients, John and Hilda were over the moon and enjoyed every minute of it. John said, “They’re good! They should go for the Eurovision Song Contest next year!” Hilda said “I think they are wonderful, absolutely wonderful.” It was a big thumbs up all round!

Once we are through the pandemic, Jon and Sam plan to organise a visit from the band to their clients home. “We’ll do a live rendition of Delilah, especially for them”, said MuckTudge.
