In life, every so often, you come across people that you know you won’t forget. People with real character and charm. Rosalind and Peter are two of those people. They’re a married couple and are cared for at home by our Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern office.
Our expert team of Care Professionals visit Rosalind and Peter every morning, lunch and evening. They’re both fairly mobile, but still need some support with personal care and medication support.
At Radfield Home Care we are on a mission to help the nation age well and remain connected to the things that matter most. Part of this is helping older people remain independent at home.
With this in mind, we complete some of the housework for Rosalind and Peter, giving them more time to revel in each other’s company and do the things that mean the most to them. We prepare their favourite food (bacon sandwiches), change their bedding regularly and make sure the house is hoovered and in tip-top condition for them.
We sat down with the married couple and asked them about the care they receive and what they like about it. Rosalind told us:
“We have only ever used Radfield Home Care and couldn’t be happier with the support they give us. We are both fairly mobile but really benefit from support with administration of medicine as we do get mixed up a little sometimes.
“The Care Professionals support us with making meals and always make the best bacon sandwich at lunchtime which sets us up for the afternoon. They are all so friendly and engage with us, we have great relationships with them.
“It’s great we can get the support for both Peter and myself from the same care provider as it saves us using two different care providers, which would be very confusing for us. A while ago Peter collapsed on the bed and the Care Professional reacted quickly and called for an ambulance, they are there for our every need and such a great support. We trust them.”
It’s the last bit of that quote for us that really hits home. We work exceptionally hard every day to make sure our clients feel valued, supported and looked after. It’s always satisfying to know that our Care Professionals are out there every day, building such strong bonds that our clients really and truly trust us.
Not every client is the same. We recognise that. Some people like to have a chat and share a cup of tea, whereas some people prefer to be left to their own devices, and that’s ok. Peter likes to make his own decisions, so our Care Professionals know to ask him things without presuming or making assumptions as to what he wants or needs that day.
He said:
“I like to remain independent so I respect the fact that the Care Professionals allow me to make my own decisions on my care support depending on how I’m feeling in the day. I do love banter and the Care Professionals always ask me if I am alright. I do love to watch TV so I’m quite happy to leave the chatting to Rosalind.”
