Reflection: Navigating Our First Six Weeks in Greater Manchester

Six weeks ago we opened our doors with a single, clear mission: to prove that home care in Greater Manchester can, and should, be exceptional.

As we hit this first major milestone, we wanted to take a moment to pause, pull back the curtain, and reflect on what it truly takes to plant deep, authentic roots in a new community.

Immersing ourselves in the local community

Our primary objective over the last month and a half has been simple: we must establish deep and trusted relationships within the local community.

To achieve this, Abrar and I have spent the last six weeks out and about on the ground, focusing entirely on building genuine connections and weaving a strong network of support across the area.

It has been an absolute privilege to get to know the fantastic people who make up our local groups, community hubs, and social clubs. Listening to our neighbours share their life stories, and in Abrar’s case, getting a lively, introduction to the cultural phenomenon that is community bingo!

This has shown us exactly what matters most to people here: real connection, a bit of joy, and a true sense of belonging.

The strategic impact of community engagement

By our third week we realised we needed a fun way to break the ice, so we introduced everyone to our new mascot, Ruben the Radfield Bear! The pure joy he’s brought into the room has been incredible to watch.

Seeing the instant smiles and the buzz of excitement Ruben creates all across Altrincham, Sale, and Trafford reminds us just how powerful a little bit of warm fun can be. He’s helped us break down barriers and open doors, making it so much easier to start meaningful conversations about home care that families in Altrincham, Sale & Trafford can comfortably rely on (follow us on social media to stay up to date with Ruben’s latest adventures!).

Alongside our community visits, we’ve been busy sitting down with local high street businesses and healthcare professionals to build solid partnerships. These conversations have been incredibly eye-opening, and at times quite tough to hear.

When sharing the heart behind what we do at Radfield, we’ve listened to some truly heart-breaking stories from local families. Too many people told us about past care experiences where a loved one’s personal choices were completely ignored, or where they felt entirely cut off from the people who mattered most to them.

Setting the standard for exceptional domiciliary care

Hearing those stories only solidified why we decided to launch the very first Radfield Home Care office in Greater Manchester; to be a breath of fresh air for this community and deliver the kind of private home care that you and your family truly deserve. We want to prove that domiciliary care in Altrincham can be something families genuinely look forward to, not just something they settle for.

At Radfield Home Care Altrincham, Sale & Trafford, our approach is entirely centred around celebrating who a person is, protecting their dignity, their independence, and their unique way of life. We aren’t just dropping in to tick off boxes; we are here to help our clients stay active, happy, and fully involved in the community they love.

Looking ahead, you’ll definitely be seeing plenty more of us (and Ruben!) out and about. Our office is fully set up, our paperwork is spotless, and our lovely care team is ready to hit the ground running. We are officially open for business, and we can’t wait to welcome our very first clients as we set a brand-new standard for care across Altrincham, Sale, and Trafford.
