Community is at the heart of everything we do at Radfield Home Care Liverpool North, Sefton & Ormskirk.
On Saturday 19th September our Community Engagement Team joined Dementia Friends Ambassador, Joe Sherville, at Tesco Burscough to support his ongoing fundraising efforts for the Alzheimer’s Society.
For local residents asking what is world alzheimers month, September is a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness, challenging stigma, and funding vital research around dementia. Taking part in events across Burscough, Ormskirk, and Sefton allows our team to stand side by side with local families navigating a diagnosis.
This year’s fundraising event was particularly poignant. Beyond raising essential funds, it provided a special opportunity to remember and pay tribute to Joe’s beloved wife, Sandra, a dedicated supporter of his fundraising and a deeply valued volunteer for Radfield Home Care within the local community.

Sandra regularly joined fundraising events at Tesco stores across our region, where her warmth, kindness, and genuine care for those around her made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Whether offering a friendly word or helping organize collection stands, Sandra gave her time generously to support others.
The team at Tesco Burscough and our Radfield family will deeply miss seeing Sandra at community events. Her welcoming smile, enthusiasm, and spirit continue to inspire our ongoing work across Liverpool North, Sefton, and Ormskirk.
When people reflect on why are volunteers important in dementia care, Sandra’s legacy provides a touching example. Community volunteers bridge the gap between healthcare services and everyday lives, offering compassion, raising funds, and ensuring families living with dementia never feel isolated or forgotten.
Lesley Malone from Radfield Home Care Liverpool North, Sefton & Ormskirk shared:
“It was an honour for our team to stand alongside Joe and support his fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society, while also remembering Sandra and the incredible contribution she made to our local community. Sandra was a truly special person. Her kindness, warmth and willingness to give her time to help others will never be forgotten.”

From funding specialist Admiral Nurses to developing local Dementia Friends networks, charity partnerships provide practical guidance and emotional support during every stage of dementia.
For residents exploring how to support dementia charities, getting involved can take many rewarding forms:
Understanding how to access dementia support is essential when a loved one begins experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes. Having access to knowledgeable home carers and community resources helps older adults remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.
Every conversation started during world Alzheimer’s month helps normalise discussions around cognitive health.
Through our continued involvement in community initiatives, Radfield Home Care Liverpool North, Sefton & Ormskirk remains dedicated to raising awareness, supporting families, and celebrating the selfless volunteers who enrich our community.
For Sandra – forever remembered, forever missed, and forever part of the Radfield family.
