Tell us about your career background and how you came to join Radfield Home Care

“I began my working career 1979 to 1989 working for Kingston Upon Thames County Council in the post room and after a year I was promoted to clerical assistant in the mortgage department processing right-to-buy applications. From 1989 to 2001, I started my own business as a shop owner selling sandwiches, snacks and drinks. From 2001 to 2016 I began my career working in care, I worked as a night carer in a residential home for residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s, I was promoted after 18 months to senior carer. From 2005 to 2011 At this point in my career, I started working two jobs, nights at a residential home and days for SOS Home Services Care Agency, caring for clients living in their own homes. From 2011 to 2016 I was promoted to care supervisor for SOS, I was responsible for Client reviews, staff spot checks and supervisions. From 2016 to 2022 I was promoted to deputy manager for SOS, my job role included processing carers’ timesheets, payroll, rotas, pensions, organising staff meetings and training. I joined Radfield Home Care in January 2023 after SOS Home Services closed due to staff shortages and not being able to pay the carers the same wages as larger companies.
I had heard about Radfield and their CQC rating of outstanding while working for SOS, so when I saw the advert on Indeed for Client Service Coordinator, I applied.”

Radfield makes you feel like you’re part of a family, they are very supportive to their staff and their clients. They are always approachable and helpful if you have any concerns.”

Any special moments with clients you would like to share?

“Easter was very special. The carers and office staff took the clients, chocolate bunnies and daffodils for the diabetic clients, to their homes to celebrate Easter. For King Charles Coronation the clients and staff were given flags, crowns and glasses to wear so we could all get involved and feel part of the celebrations.”

Anything else you would like to add?

“As a new member of staff, I have been made to feel very welcome and everyone has been very supportive and helpful, and have taken time to train me, even though they are extremely busy themselves.”
