Radfield Home Care franchise doubling targets after only 9 months

After just nine months of trading, franchisees from one of the UK’s top 100 franchises, Radfield Home Care are already outperforming their business plan.

Essex-based Radfield Home Care Havering only began trading in July last year and has already seen a peak of almost 500 hours of care delivered in a single week – over double their targets. As a result, the business began to make significant profit each month, allowing them to reinvest in their team and recently expand into a second territory in neighbouring Brentwood.

Jennie Bardick helped launch the Havering & Brentwood branch and had this to say:

“The last nine months have been an incredible learning curve – it was a fantastic milestone to even deliver 100 hours of care per week but to have got to a peak of 500 hours in early 2018 was just unbelievable”, Jennie explains.

“Winning the Judges Award at the Thames Gateway Business Awards in 2017 was a fantastic platform for us, and subsequently winning Havering’s New Business of the Year Award earlier this year has given us some great visibility and brand awareness in the community.

“Most of all though, it’s our clients and carers and what they say about us that has supported our growth – word of mouth is extremely powerful. Their support and recommendations have been overwhelming and it’s heart-warming to read our client reviews. We truly believe in focusing on our people and we will continue to value our carers for the fantastic work they do and the high quality of care that they deliver to our clients.”

Radfield’s franchisor, Dr Hannah MacKechnie is delighted by Lisa and Jennie’s success, but puts it firmly down to their care-centred attitude:

“Since we first met Jennie and Lisa at the franchise exhibition last February we could tell they wanted to enter the industry for inspiring reasons. Now, 12 months on from when we first met, their attitude is testament to their success.

“They are so committed to ensuring their clients are at the centre of everything they do, and this attitude has left them with an amazing reputation in their local area that has led to numerous word-of-mouth referrals. They both naturally align with all of Radfield’s values; highlighting not only the importance of a strong ethos in this sector, but also the potential of the Radfield Home Care model.”

Their values and ethos, like so many of Radfield’s franchises, stem back to their own personal experiences of care services and older people: “We are from a very close family and our nan, ‘Nanny Fish’ was a key part of that. She had Dementia yet we saw the wonderful and happy life she led when she was fortunate enough to live with my uncle. Ultimately this is what we want to give to others in the community of Havering where we have both grown up”, Jennie explains.

“We both come from corporate backgrounds – Lisa from asset management and me from strategy consulting, and we simply wanted to do something where we could give back. “We did plenty of research into both franchising and home care, which showed the huge opportunity in the market, and although there is lots of competition we have been determined to bring a fresh perspective to the industry. We were inspired by Radfield’s franchisors, Hannah and Alex’s values, in particular their family values, and it’s been an incredible journey building our own Radfield family in Essex.”

With a decline in local authority provided home care services and funding, Radfield Home Care specialises in elderly care within the private marketplace, meeting the demands of the ageing population turning to the private market to meet their care needs.

After 26 years operating a residential care home, fully qualified and experienced GP, Dr Hannah MacKechnie and her brother Alex Green launched Radfield’s home care services in 2008 and operated four company owned offices over the following eight years – developing one of the most tried and tested franchise business models in the home care sector.

Radfield Home Care now has opportunities for care-centred, values driven franchisees across the UK and throughout Greater London; with the opportunity to develop a rewarding business in a multi-billion pound sector.
