Living Wage Week is an important moment in the national calendar; a chance to recognise the employers and organisations who champion fair pay and good work across the UK. This year, Radfield Home Care attended the West Midlands Living Wage Week Celebration at Birmingham City University, where our Franchise Development Director, Phil MacKechnie, and Operations Manager, Karen Corcoran, joined fellow leaders, community groups and sector advocates.
Organised by the Living Wage Foundation and Birmingham Citizens, the event gathered employers from across the region to share experiences and celebrate the impact that fair pay has on individuals, families and communities. With contributions from Cllr John Cotton, Birmingham City Council, and local organisations, the day highlighted how valuing frontline workers creates stronger, healthier and more resilient local services.
At Radfield Home Care, we believe that exceptional home care starts with exceptional support for our Care Professionals. That is why we committed to our Caring for Carers™ pledge; committing to fair pay, strong training pathways and a culture that values our teams’ wellbeing as an essential component of high-quality home care. When Care Professionals feel respected, confident and secure, they are empowered to deliver the relationship-centred care that families depend on every day.
The event reinforced a principle that sits at the heart of Radfield’s mission; when Care Professionals thrive, clients thrive. Fair pay supports recruitment, improves retention and strengthens continuity of care, allowing older people to build trusting, long-term relationships with the people who support them.
Living Wage Week is a celebration; but it is also a reminder of the work still to be done. Radfield Home Care will continue to advocate for fair employment practices, career development opportunities and working environments that help Care Professionals grow.
By investing in our teams, we continue delivering on our purpose; helping our nation age well by keeping people connected to the things that matter most.
