A fantastic morning of laughter, friendship, quizzes and new beginnings! Radfield Home Care Bromley, Orpington & Beckenham is celebrating the successful launch of Monday Connect, a brand-new FREE weekly Young-Onset Dementia Group in Bromley, created to bring people together through friendship, creativity, music and exercise.
Monday 2nd November 2026 marked an exciting milestone for us as we officially launched Monday Connect at Emmanuel Church, West Wickham.
Created specifically for people who have been diagnosed with young-onset dementia, Monday Connect offers a much-needed opportunity to meet others, develop friendships, enjoy new experiences and take part in activities that promote health and wellbeing.
And what a fantastic first session it was!
The morning was filled with smiles, laughter, conversations and plenty of enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, enjoying each other’s company and embracing what Monday Connect is all about.

One of the highlights of our young-onset dementia group launch was a brilliant quiz that got everyone thinking!
There was plenty of friendly competition and some very enthusiastic answers. We discovered that our group certainly knows how to get involved, and there were a few moments when the answers sparked just as much debate as the questions themselves.
It was lovely to see everyone joining in, sharing a laugh and enjoying a little friendly rivalry. After all, who doesn’t love a good quiz?
This is exactly the atmosphere we want to create at Monday Connect. It isn’t about sitting around talking about dementia or focusing on a diagnosis. It’s about enjoying life, having a giggle, trying new things, making connections and creating happy memories.
We want people to leave each session having smiled, laughed and enjoyed themselves, perhaps even looking forward to the next Monday’s activities!

What makes Monday Connect particularly special is that every week will bring something different.
Our sessions will rotate between three key themes: creativity, music and exercise, all designed to promote wellbeing, encourage participation and provide opportunities for people to express themselves and enjoy new experiences.
The sessions will be led by Mercedes Yearley, our Community Engagement Officer, who specialises in promoting wellbeing through drama and creative activities.
Drawing on her experience in drama and creative engagement, Mercedes will bring a variety of interactive and enjoyable sessions to the group. From creative activities and drama-inspired exercises to music sessions and gentle movement, each week will offer something new to look forward to.
We believe that keeping active, expressing creativity, enjoying music and connecting with others can all play an important part in supporting overall wellbeing. For anyone looking for engaging dementia friendly activities in West Wickham, our rotating schedule ensures no two Mondays feel the same.

We were particularly delighted to welcome David Jefferys, former Mayor of Bromley and Councillor for Bromley Common and Holwood Ward, who joined us to show his support for this important new initiative.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming Nikki Fishman from Bromley Well and Leah Cregg, a Private Client Solicitor, alongside other local professionals and community representatives.
It was wonderful to see people from different organisations and professional backgrounds coming together to support a service that we believe will make a real difference to individuals and families across Bromley.
The launch highlighted just how important collaboration is in building a more connected and dementia-friendly community. By working together, sharing knowledge and raising awareness, we can help ensure that people affected by young-onset dementia know that support, friendship and opportunities are available locally.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to attend and support us. Your presence helped make the morning even more special.

Young-onset dementia affects people who receive a dementia diagnosis before the age of 65. According to research published by Dementia UK, over 70,800 people in the UK are currently living with young-onset dementia.
Receiving a diagnosis in your 40s, 50s, or early 60s brings very different challenges compared to developing dementia in later life. At this stage people may still be working, raising children, managing family commitments and leading otherwise busy lives. Clinical studies by the Alzheimer’s Society show that younger adults face an average diagnostic delay of 4.4 years, during which time relationships and financial security can be placed under immense strain.
Furthermore, traditional adult day centres and dementia cafés frequently cater to individuals in their late 70s and 80s, offering sedentary routines that feel unsuited to younger, physically active adults. Finding suitable social opportunities and support specifically designed around their circumstances can be challenging.
This is why we felt so passionately about introducing Monday Connect to Bromley. Our vision is to create a place where people feel comfortable, included and understood, without feeling defined by their diagnosis.
Whether it’s enjoying a quiz, listening to music, taking part in creative activities, getting moving or simply having a cup of tea and a chat, there is something incredibly valuable about spending time with people who understand.

Monday Connect has been developed through the collaboration between us at Radfield Home Care Bromley, Orpington & Beckenham and Quest Soul Theatre CIC, bringing together a shared passion for community engagement, creativity and supporting people affected by dementia.
The young onset dementia group in Bromley has been driven by myself and Chanice Baugh, Directors of Radfield Home Care Bromley, alongside Mercedes Yearley, whose passion for creative engagement and wellbeing has helped bring the group to life.
The project builds on Radfield’s existing community work, including our established Connections Café, a free monthly dementia-friendly café that has been bringing people together in Bromley for several years.
We believe that care is about so much more than meeting practical needs. It is about helping people maintain their independence, enjoy meaningful relationships and continue doing the things they love. Speaking about the launch, Chanice, Director of Radfield Home Care Bromley, said:
“We are thrilled with how our first Monday Connect session went. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, enjoying the activities, and having genuine fun together. The quiz was a particular highlight, full of laughter and friendly competition. We wanted to create something different for people living with young-onset dementia in Bromley. Monday Connect is not a clinical meeting room, it is an active social space where people can be themselves, laugh, make friends, and enjoy life. We are proud to offer this as a completely free service to our community and look forward to welcoming many new faces.”
Providing free young-onset dementia activities & groups in Bromley ensures that cost is never a barrier to social connection and physical wellbeing.
Following such a positive launch, we are excited about what lies ahead for Monday Connect.
The group runs every Monday, excluding bank holidays, at the Emmanuel Church in West Wickham from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and is completely FREE to attend.
Whether you enjoy quizzes, music, games, creative activities, gentle exercise or simply meeting new people over a cup of tea, there will always be a warm welcome waiting for you. We also encourage families, healthcare professionals, local organisations and anyone who knows someone who may benefit to help spread the word.
Sometimes the hardest part is taking that first step, but we promise a friendly face, a warm welcome and hopefully plenty of reasons to smile!
