Carers start to receive their Covid immunisation vaccine

A number of care professionals at Radfield Home Care Havering and Brentwood are pleased to have received their vaccination appointments as a result of the rolling out of the UK’s national Covid immunisation programme. With the focus now being placed upon those working within the health and social care sector this has been a great cause of relief for many.

Providing home care and support services, by its very nature, can require close contact between carers, clients and loved ones. Those on the front line of providing care have found themselves to be the most vulnerable as they have often been the most exposed during the Coronavirus crisis. Recent guidance issued by the UK Government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) stating that the initial provision of the vaccine would also be offered to those who work in sectors such as domiciliary care, was readily welcomed by Radfield Home Care Havering and Brentwood’s co-director, Lisa Cable:

“We are really hoping that having a vaccine available for our care staff really marks the beginning of the end of a difficult time period. Emotionally, it has been hard for carers to visit clients knowing that they work in such close proximity, even despite our rigorous covid PPE procedures. Having the vaccine adds another layer of protection to support our clients safely.”

One of the care professionals to receive her jab was Kelly, Radfield Home Care Havering and Brentwood’s client service coordinator, having been given the vaccination at Queen’s Hospital in Romford. Kelly describes her reaction to being offered the opportunity:

“It has been such a relief to have received the covid-19 vaccine. I now feel much happier and safer when I visit clients and also when I return home to my family.”

Whilst the covid vaccines are recognised as a massive step forward, it must be complemented by existing health and safety practices, all of which Radfield rigorously upholds. Staying up to date with the latest Covid-19 guidance provided by the Government and leading industry bodies Radfield Home Care remains strongly committed to the safety of its clients and carers and the provision of exceptional care.
