Radfield Havering Win Prestigious Judges Award

Directors Jennie Bardrick and Lisa Cable, along with their Care Manager Natalea Haydon excitedly, yet with a small amount of apprehension, attended the Thames Gateway Business Awards on Friday 20th October 2017.

Award-winning care provider Havering

We were delighted to be the finalists in the category ‘New Business of the Year’ alongside Uniform7, Project Etopia Group and PAESUK LTD and were so chuffed to have been nominated for the award. We had Judges Mary Clements, Barking Chamber and Steven Mitchell, Publishing Director from Archant visit us in our office to understand more about our business and our journey so far, and even being able to share our story with them, was a great honour and opportunity.

The judges visit came after just four months of trading and during an extremely challenging week when we had to put some emergency overnight care in place for one of our clients. During times like this, our core values shine; all pulling together as a team, working as a family and being proud of the care we provide. It was quite fitting to have the Judges visit us, after Lisa provided a last minute care call throughout the night with one of our clients; a great example of going above and beyond to help our clients.

We felt we gave our all to the judges on the day and when the winner was announced on the night, although disappointed to not have won the ‘New Business of the Year’ category, we felt that Radfield Havering had done our best and felt immensely proud of what we had achieved.

We had a great time at the awards. The food was fantastic and we were on a table with two other amazing businesses; Sports Foundation who do so much to get underprivileged kids involved in sport in the community, and Landmark Estates who are at the forefront of innovation with their drone usage. We thoroughly enjoyed watching all the winners be announced and Charlie Webster did an amazing job of hosting and making it a fun night.

The company who stole the show was Nutbourne Limited who won three awards – Small Business of the Year, Employer of the Year and Company of the Year. It was great to meet them on the night and congratulate them on such an incredible achievement – a true aspiration for our future!

The penultimate prize was the ‘Judges Award’ and to say we were shocked to receive this would be an understatement. When we heard our name being called, we all looked at each other in disbelief before being dragged up to the stage to receive our award and certificate with great excitement and pride.

We couldn’t be happier. The award comes with a whopping £12,000 marketing campaign with Archant, who publish the Romford Recorder, Brentwood Recorder, Havering & Brentwood Resident and the Gidea Park Parish Magazine. You could not have wiped the smiles off our faces for the rest of the night and after lots of photos and congratulatory chats, we now can’t wait to plan and launch our marketing campaign. Watch this space.

“Success isn’t just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do”
