At Radfield Home Care Watford & Borehamwood, we believe care is about more than what happens inside someone’s home; it is about helping people remain connected to their community, supported in their independence, and confident they are not facing challenges alone. This belief is reflected in our involvement with the Watford Santa Sleigh, a much-loved local tradition organised by the Rotary Club of Watford.
As a provider of home care in Watford, including Visiting Care and Live-in Care, we see first-hand how community connection supports wellbeing. Seasonal events like the Watford Santa Sleigh help bring people together and create moments of joy that matter just as much as practical support, particularly for older people and their families.
Community involvement is most meaningful when it is hands-on. Our Director, Lavanya Gamsani, volunteered alongside Rotary members throughout December, supporting donation collection, engaging with families, and helping coordinate the practical planning that allows the sleigh to visit neighbourhoods across Watford.
This kind of volunteering reflects Radfield Home Care’s wider approach to care; being present, being involved, and understanding people as individuals rather than needs to be managed.

The Watford Santa Sleigh has been running for over 20 years and raises vital funds for local charities including New Hope, Watford Foodbank, Mind, Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, Random Café, Say It With a Smile, and Small Acts of Kindness. These organisations provide essential support to people across the community and often complement the care families arrange at home.
For many families we support through care in Watford, these wider networks play an important role alongside professional care services, helping to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.
The current sleigh was generously donated by the local Warner Bros. Studios.
The festive season can highlight challenges for families caring for a loved one. Loneliness, declining independence, or concerns about safety at home often become more noticeable at this time of year. Community events like the Watford Santa Sleigh remind us how important connection and reassurance are; values that sit at the heart of the care we provide every day.
