Joining the care sector changed Camilla’s life

Meet Camilla Nutley, senior supervisor at our Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern office.

Camilla hasn’t always worked in the care sector. Prior to the lockdown, she was helping people obtain their licences as a driving instructor. Lockdown hit every corner of the working world and overnight, driving instructors were losing out.

Helping people is in Camilla’s nature and she had always thought about becoming a Care Professional. Whilst losing her job as a driving instructor was a terrible thing, it meant that she could follow her passion for care and join a family of Care Professionals helping vulnerable people every day. When one door closes, another opens.

We sat down with Camilla not long after she started working for us to hear her inspirations for becoming a Care Professional and what she loved most about the role. You can read more about that here.

Progressing her career in care

Camilla tells us:

“I joined Radfield Home Care as a Care Professional and at that point, I really found a passion for care and realised I loved my role more as a Care Professional than as a driving instructor. After working hard during covid for 6 months I was offered a position as Field Care Supervisor.”

We encourage all of our care family to progress in their roles in whatever way they can. We’re always trying to support people that are keen to learn more about care. Gaining extra knowledge and qualifications benefits everybody in the workplace. It not only gives them the means to progress, but the extra knowledge within the business means our clients receive even better care.

“I decided to complete my NVQ Level 3 and passed with flying colours. Sarah, my manager, was very supportive whilst I was studying, making sure I had the time I needed to complete it.”

Shortly after obtaining her NVQ Level 3, Camilla was offered a role in the office as an administrator. She took the job so that she could get a deeper understanding of client assessments, invoicing and a general view of how the office is run.

Going from strength to strength

Most recently Camilla has progressed to the role of senior supervisor, a hybrid role which combines some office activities as well as being in the field liaising with clients. This combination suits Camilla and plays to her strengths, she’s now even more involved with clients and new Care Professionals whilst still maintaining office-based responsibilities.

“I conduct client reviews and new client assessments, making sure all files are up to date and most importantly that all clients are happy. I enjoy mentoring new Care Professional’s and also supporting the Field Care Supervisors. I am really happy I have progressed within the business and have had lots of support to enable me to achieve this.”

Our clients and care family are at the heart of everything we do

We are committed to being there for our clients, helping them to remain independent in their own homes. As a brand, we’re on a mission to help the nation age well and remain connected to the things that matter most. In order to do this, we need to provide the best possible care.

Providing fantastic services starts with taking care of our Care Professionals. We make sure our Care Professionals feel valued and part of our family, so that they in turn can make our clients feel valued and part of our family. We’re baking in a culture of inclusivity, positivity and family values in everything we do, with a clear end goal: a very happy client and a very happy care family.

“We understand that it is important to clients that they are able to stay at home and remain independent. I love that I am involved with that every step of the way. Whether I am supporting clients myself or meeting new clients where I can sit and have a chat with them to come up with a plan of how we can support them, making sure they are involved in their care plan and remain independent.

I enjoy communicating with all Care Professionals and new starters and making sure they know I am there for them with any worries or concerns they may have and supporting them in their role in order for them to stay motivated.

I would say to anyone looking to join the care sector to consider Radfield Home Care as they have supported me each and every step of the way with my career progression. They have made me feel part of the team and are always there to support you and most importantly they make you feel like everyone matters.”
