Worcester care provider recognised for reconnecting pair with chocolate factory-filled youth

A special Be There Moment, where the Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern team came together to help their clients relive their youth in a chocolate factory, has been recognised with a special award.

On Tuesday, 12th March, the Radfield Home Care franchise network donned their best attire for the much anticipated annual awards ceremony at the Radfield Home Care Conference 2024. This year’s event was named the “Connections Conference”, to emphasise the importance of connections between care clients, care teams, businesses, local communities and offices within the franchise network.

What are the Be There Moment Awards?

The Connections Conference introduced the inaugural Be There awards, an award to recognise moments where the office team, or individuals had gone above and beyond to help a client, colleague or member of the community Be Connected, Be Inspired and/or Be Themselves. The Be There Movement is Radfield Home Care’s distillation of their purpose into something tangible and actionable. Radfield’s purpose is to help people age well by remaining connected to the things that matter most to them. Be There is both a noun and call to action, as Being There is what it takes to help people retain those important connections and memories in their life.

Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern wins finalist award

Viv and Freda are two much beloved clients of Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich & Malvern. For us and the team, care is more than popping round and checking off a list, it’s about helping people to get engaged and lead the life they want to. This is why we arranged a trip to Cadbury World, a trip that was very special for Viv & Freda. In their youth, the two ladies had both worked for Cadbury, in the factory or on the production line.

We identified that there was an opportunity to help the pair relive the careers from their younger years. The pair loved every moment and enjoyed reminiscing with the tour guides, comparing their own experiences, identifying what had changed and what had stayed the same.

Dawn Phillips, owner and director of Radfield Home Care Worcester, Droitwich and Malvern, describes her reaction to being nominated:

“My whole team and I are extremely proud of being a finalist in the Be There awards, it was wonderful to see the other entries also, and congratulations to the winning office. This is a movement that we as a team have embraced with lots of enthusiasm, excitement.

My whole team have created many natural and deliberate acts of kindness for all of the clients we support and this was evident with so many wonderful stories we’ve been able to share that embody what ‘Be There’ & being there for our clients and Caring Professionals means.

National office creating a category award for this movement is a wonderful idea. It’s very clear that across the whole network all of the offices are doing some wonderful things for their clients and the Worcester office is extremely proud to be a part of this.

The ‘Be There’ movement now comes with the exciting announcement from our founding partners Alex Green and Hannah MacKechnie that they are starting a grant that offices can apply for, to support bigger and more special acts of kindness for our clients, this is wonderful news and I can’t wait to see what ideas and acts of kindness comes from the whole network with the use of the grants.”

The moment was put forward along with dozens of other entries from across the Radfield Home Care network, and at the awards ceremony was announced as a top three finalist. Touched by the many emotional and impactful moments, each of the top three finalists was awarded with a finalist award to recognise the outstanding work of the care team.

What is the Radfield Home Care Connections Conference?

Be There is about connecting with and supporting one another. For the Radfield Home Care franchise network, annual conferences allow each office to come together to share ideas, successes, and challenges to overcome. The Radfield Home Care Conference 2024 put a focus on these connections and the theme of “Connect, Grow, Succeed.” At Radfield Home Care, our franchise network gives us a distinct edge, as we are able to lean on one another to discuss and solve problems with like-minded business owners who are not being competed with.
