A fantastic morning of community spirit, litter picking and fundraising in Crosby took place on Thursday, 12th August 2026, as the Radfield Home Care Liverpool North & Sefton team came together for a charity walk in support of local community partner Marine in the Community, Crosby.
Starting at 10am at Crosby Coastguard Station, the team set off along the promenade to raise much-needed funds while celebrating the importance of supporting local people, protecting the local environment and making a positive difference across the Crosby and Sefton community.
The charity walk provided a great opportunity for local people and community organisations to come together for a shared cause. Alongside fundraising for Marine in the Community, the event highlighted the importance of looking after the places that make Crosby such a special place to live, work and visit.
The walk also provided an opportunity to recognise the vital role played by Crosby Coastguard and coastguard volunteers in keeping people safe along the local coastline. Coastguard teams are an essential part of the emergency services, responding to incidents at sea and along the coast and helping people who may find themselves in difficulty.
Their dedication provides reassurance to residents and visitors who enjoy Crosby’s beaches and coastline throughout the year.
The event was also joined by members of the Crosby Wombles, who combined the charity walk with their regular litter-picking activities. It was fantastic to see Radfield Home Care business owner Dave Bellis getting involved, helping to collect litter and shake his fundraising bucket along the promenade.
With temperatures soaring during this summer’s heatwaves, keeping our coastline and beaches clean was particularly important. Removing discarded rubbish helps protect local wildlife, keeps the area looking its best and can reduce potential hazards during hot, dry weather.
Items such as glass, discarded cigarettes and other combustible materials can become a serious hazard when temperatures are high. Looking after the coastline is therefore not only about protecting the environment, but also helping to keep local residents and visitors safe.
Despite the scorching summer sunshine, everyone remained enthusiastic throughout the walk. The group was united by a shared commitment to supporting a fantastic local cause, caring for the environment and recognising the people and organisations that help keep the community safe.
The morning concluded at Wetherspoon, where everyone enjoyed some much-deserved cold drinks and the opportunity to relax and celebrate a successful community event.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part, donated and supported the charity walk, as well as the coastguard teams and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep our coastline safe.
Dave Bellis said:
“The support we received was fantastic. Seeing people come together, despite the heat, to support Marine in the Community really showed the strength of our local community. It was also great to see everyone getting involved with litter picking and helping to keep our beaches clean and safe during such a hot summer. We also wanted to recognise the fantastic work of our coastguards, who play such an important role in keeping people safe along our coastline. This is just the beginning, and we hope our next event will be even bigger and better.”
