Janet’s care story – A career in home care

We would like to introduce you to Janet, a care assistant for Radfield Home Care Liverpool North.

Tell us about your previous care work/career background.

I have worked on a geriatric rehabilitation ward in a Liverpool hospital and in a nursing home. I have also been a carer for children with cerebral palsy in a residential school. My last job was as a teaching assistant and I had held that position in two previous schools.

What has inspired you to want to be involved in the adult social care sector?

I feel a caregiver is a very worthwhile and rewarding career and I enjoy helping to make people’s lives more comfortable, safer and/or more enjoyable.

Why Radfield Home Care Liverpool North?

For me, I know that both the care professional staff and our clients are respected and are important to the Radfield management team.

How did you get to hear about the job opportunity?

I heard that Dave Bellis, Director and owner of Radfield Home Care Liverpool North, was starting a care agency business and decided to explore possible job opportunities. I researched the company through the brochures and literature, also by visiting the Radfield website.

What are your career aspirations?

I would like to continue as a carer and am happy to undertake any training offered so that I can improve in the job.

Any special moments with clients you would like to share?

I helped one client to plant two hanging baskets last year by putting all she needed within reach. She was delighted with the results. I have also prepared a dessert for a client and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

What do you love most about your job and working for Radfield Home Care?

I love having a rapport with clients and a good relationship with the management. I also like seeing positive feedback from clients and their families.
