Radfield care professional Lisa puts her best foot forward!

Always prepared to go one step further for Radfield’s clients and for others, Radfield Home Care Wakefield and Dewsbury’s  care professional, Lisa, has been putting her best foot forward to support the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Alzheimer’s Society’s current charity challenge requires family and friends to ‘Step Up for Dementia‘ and reach the fantastic total of 850,000 steps over three months – the estimated number of those in the UK who are currently living with Dementia.

Lisa explains her motivation to get involved and how she is already well on the way to achieving her goal, has experienced some unexpected benefits and has raised money along the way:

“It all started when I made the decision to become fitter and having a dog already I really wanted to get out and about more. I also wanted to be held accountable for this and to put my all in, preferably doing something that helped others, so I started looking for a great charity challenge to work towards. There were a few challenges around but the Alzheimer’s society really resonated with me the most. A lot of my Radfield Home Care clients have dementia and so I personally see on a daily basis the effect that this has upon them and their families.

This has really spurred me on during my walks – it was the right challenge for me, for the right reason and being able to raise a bit of money to go towards the society is just fantastic. The dog is also loving it with all those extra walks!

It’s also been great to get out and about more and to regularly visit my local park. I’ve realised just how sociable dog walking is and it’s so enjoyable. I’ve been able to speak to people, albeit socially distanced, the challenge really has offered me more than just doing extra steps on a daily basis. It’s helped me reconnect to the world around me.”

Radfield is proud to have such dedicated carers, always providing the highest quality of care to their clients and always thinking of others. Challenges that can directly help others while also connecting us back to the outside world following the most recent Covid lockdown are such a fantastic thing to get involved in.
