National day of reflection – views from our care team

In recognition of the UK’s ‘national day of reflection’ held on Tuesday 23 March 2021, Radfield Home Care Harrogate, Wetherby and North Yorkshire has been capturing the personal reflections of its home care professionals. These thoughts provide an important view from those who have been on the front line in the health and social care sector, ensuring Radfield’s amazing clients were protected throughout the covid-19 pandemic.

The day of reflection marks the date exactly a year on from the start of Britain’s first covid lockdown and was initially a campaign put forward by the charity Marie Curie. It provides an opportunity for people to ‘come together to reflect on our collective loss, support those who’ve been bereaved, and hope for a brighter future’. A minute silence at midday, followed by the lighting up of a number of prominent landmarks were also organised to light up at 8pm.

Radfield Home Care Harrogate, Wetherby and North Yorkshire’s care staff have approached the last year with true dedication and a passion to deliver the same level of excellent care to their clients, despite the challenges introduced as a result of Covid. Here they offer their views and some positive reflections on the last year:

Joanne Fabretti, home care assistant, said: “The last year has been very difficult for us but more so for our clients, but we have got through it together. We have supported our clients when their families were unable to do so and I feel proud to be able to do that now and into the near future.”

Serenity Howell, home care assistant, said: “Through the last year we have had to deal with some really difficult situations, but throughout it all we have worked as a team to provide the best care possible to our clients. We continue to go from strength to strength and while we are out in the community on our own a lot of the time, we still manage to come together as a group to support each other.”

Whatever this next year brings, Radfield is there ready to support and to continue to provide the highest quality home care it is so proud to offer.
