At Radfield Home Care Harrogate, Wetherby & North Yorkshire, we believe exceptional home care extends far beyond the walls of a person’s home. While delivering high-quality, relationship-led care is central to what we do, our wider responsibility is to the communities in which we operate. We see ourselves not only as a trusted care agency in Harrogate and North Yorkshire, but as an active community partner committed to helping older people remain independent, connected and fulfilled in later life.
A key part of this commitment is working alongside local organisations that share our values and our vision for ageing well. One such organisation, which we are proud to partner with, is Supporting Older People in Harrogate (SOP). Our collaboration reflects everything we stand for as a premium private home care provider: compassion, dignity, independence and meaningful human connection.
Supporting Older People in Harrogate is a well-established local charity dedicated to reducing loneliness and isolation among older adults. Since 1983, SOP has provided companionship, practical help and social opportunities to thousands of people across Harrogate and the surrounding areas. Their work focuses on keeping older people connected to their communities, supporting independence and enhancing overall well-being.
The charity delivers its services through a small but dedicated team of three part-time staff, supported by a committed board of trustees and a network of volunteers. These volunteers act as befrienders, drivers and event supporters, helping older people attend social activities, outings and regular groups that might otherwise feel inaccessible.
At Radfield, we recognise how vital this type of community-led support is. Social connection plays a significant role in senior wellbeing at home, particularly for those living alone, managing long-term health conditions or adjusting to changes in later life. SOP’s work aligns seamlessly with our mission of helping our nation age well by keeping people connected to what matters most.

As a provider of home care services in Harrogate and North Yorkshire since 2018, we have seen firsthand the difference that strong local partnerships can make. While our Care Professionals deliver tailored care plans, personal care, companion care and specialist support within the home, organisations like Supporting Older People extend that support into the wider community.
In July 2025, we reached out to SOP to explore how we could work together more closely. What began as an initial conversation quickly developed into a meaningful and mutually supportive partnership. We were delighted to become SOP’s inaugural Business Champion, committing to provide ongoing support throughout the year and to actively contribute to the charity’s work.
For us, this partnership is about far more than financial support or branding. It is about showing up, building relationships and playing an active role in tackling the challenges many older people face, particularly loneliness, reduced mobility and social isolation.
Our involvement with Supporting Older People is practical, hands-on and people-focused. We regularly support by providing lifts to and from events, ensuring older people can safely access social groups, activities and outings. In many cases, these small acts of support make a significant difference, removing barriers that might otherwise prevent someone from participating.
We also attend events alongside SOP, helping with hosting, refreshments and conversation. One particularly rewarding initiative has been supporting the development of a local men’s club, creating a welcoming and informal space for older men to connect, share experiences and build friendships. Initiatives like this are invaluable in promoting mental well-being and a sense of belonging.
Beyond events, we continue to look for ways to support SOP through volunteering, donating raffle prizes and offering practical assistance whenever needed. This approach reflects our belief that community carers include everyone who contributes to improvingthe quality of life for older people, not just those delivering in-home care.
At Radfield Home Care, our services are built around relationships. Whether we are providing visiting care, live-in care, respite care in Harrogate, and surrounding areas, or specialist dementia support, our focus is always on the individual and their family. We support independent living by delivering care that is flexible, responsive and shaped around personal preferences, routines and goals.
Our Care Professionals are carefully matched to clients to ensure continuity, trust and genuine companionship. This relationship-led approach is what sets us apart as one of the most trusted care providers in Harrogate and North Yorkshire. It also informs how we work within the community, forming long-term partnerships rather than short-term initiatives.
We are champions for care that people want as well as need. That means recognising the importance of social care at home, emotional wellbeing and staying connected to the wider world. Our partnership with Supporting Older People reinforces this philosophy, ensuring that older adults feel supported not only by their care agency but by their community as a whole.
Families often come to us seeking reassurance as much as practical support. Whether they require post-hospital home care, rehabilitation at home, palliative care or long-term care, they want to know their loved one is safe, respected and living well. Strong local partnerships allow us to offer holistic support, signposting families to additional resources and community services when appropriate.
By working closely with organisations like Supporting Older People, we help strengthen local care networks across Harrogate and surrounding areas. This collaborative approach ensures older people receive the right support at the right time, whether through professional in-home care or community-based companionship and activities.
As a care agency in North Yorkshire that is deeply embedded in the local area, we are committed to continuing this work. Supporting our community, advocating for older people and helping families navigate later life are central to who we are.
