On a bright and uplifting afternoon on 5th October, our local community gathered to mark a truly special occasion, Silver Sunday, the national day that honours older people and brings people together to help reduce loneliness. Organised by Age UK, this year’s event was brought to life through a meaningful collaboration between Radfield Home Care in Wycombe, Beaconsfield & South Bucks and the wonderfully welcoming team at Shelburne Lodge Nursing Home, who generously hosted the day.
This year’s Silver Sunday stood out for the genuine spirit of partnership between Radfield Home Care Wycombe, Beaconsfield and South Bucks and Shelburne Lodge. Both organisations share a deep commitment to providing support for older people in our community, and when they came together with a common goal, the result was a truly memorable and heartfelt afternoon.
Whether it was clients, residents, or our dedicated Care Professionals, everyone felt included, valued, and celebrated. The event was a perfect example of how collaboration can create real moments of joy and connection.
Guests were greeted by the wonderful team at Shelburne Lodge, who went above and beyond to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The beautiful surroundings of the nursing home provided the perfect setting for an afternoon filled with warmth, conversation, and companionship, highlighting the sense of community that makes Wycombe and the surrounding areas so special.
A highlight of the day was the three-course lunch, lovingly prepared and served by the Shelburne Lodge team. While the food itself was exceptional, what truly made the meal special was the company. Conversations flowed, laughter echoed, and new friendships were formed around the table. It was a wonderful reminder of how quality care and support for older people in Beaconsfield and South Bucks can create meaningful connections.
This wasn’t just a lunch; it was a shared experience that brought people together in a meaningful way.
