Monopoly-Inspired Run Raises Over £3,000 for Camden, Islington and Haringey Charities

The first-ever Monopoly-Inspired Charity Run brought fun, fitness and fundraising together across London on Sunday 18th May. Participants raced through the capital, visiting iconic locations from the classic Monopoly board while raising over £3,000 for local charities in Camden, Islington and Haringey.

The creative event was arranged and hosted by Glyn Clark, Director and Owner at Radfield Home Care Camden, Islington & Haringey, as a way to support community-based organisations making a real difference in the area.

A Running Tour Through London’s Monopoly Board

Covering a 14-mile route, the run took in familiar landmarks including Euston Road, Pall Mall, Bow Street, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, Regent Street, King’s Cross Station and Mayfair. Starting from Old Kent Road, runners passed by reimagined versions of Monopoly favourites like Jail, Water Works and Electric Company.

The route wound through six London boroughs: Southwark, Tower Hamlets, the City of London, Westminster, Camden and Islington. The event showcased the diversity of the capital and the energy of its communities. Just six runners took part, but their collective effort raised an impressive amount for local causes.

Supporting Local Charities That Make a Difference

The event raised funds for four charities that deliver essential services across the local area:

These organisations were selected for their impact and the work they do to strengthen local communities. Their missions reflect the same values that inspired the charity run.

Community Spirit on the Move

The idea of whether it would be possible to run the Monopoly Board had been in my mind for a few years,” said Glyn Clark. “Working out the best route, while ensuring we started at Old Kent Road and finished in Mayfair, was tremendous fun, especially finding places like Vine Street. It was even more joyful to have such wonderful people join me on the run.

Each runner received a bespoke medal featuring Monopoly-themed tokens such as the hat, dog and iron. These medals added a nostalgic and celebratory touch to mark the occasion.

Looking Ahead

With hopes of making it an annual tradition, the Monopoly-Inspired Charity Run could continue to bring people together in support of meaningful local causes.

I had fabulous fun representing Riverstone in the inaugural Charity Monopoly Board Run. It was the perfect running weather for a twisty 12 miles through the sights of London, and I was so impressed by the creativity behind the route, especially the takes on Jail, Water Works and the Electricity Board. All in support of four incredibly worthy local causes. – Dr. Zoe Wyrko, Wellbeing & Quality Director at Riverstone

Continuing the Impact

This event reflects how local efforts, led by individuals and supported by the wider community, can have a meaningful and lasting impact. The charities supported by the run continue to provide essential services to people across Camden, Islington and Haringey, and now do so with even more support behind them.
