A warm welcome to the latest edition of our Community newsletter. Our aim is to keep you up to date on all things relating to Radfield Home Care Chingford & Loughton.
With the festive season in full swing and busy diaries, it’s easy to forget that older people can find this time of the year a challenge.
World Diabetes Day is celebrated in the UK on the 14th November each year. This year’s theme of “Diabetes and Wellbeing” focuses on the importance of access to diabetes care and support for everyone with diabetes to live well. We had the pleasure of running a seated exercise and wellbeing session for the local Diabetes UK branch.
The aim was promoting and raising awareness of how movement helps with overall wellbeing and how small, regular movement improves circulation. Our Care Professionals are experienced in providing diabetes care in Chingford & Loughton.
We have started running twice monthly seated exercise sessions in Loughton. They have been popular, although December classes were lower on numbers due to festive commitments.
Our seated exercise sessions are a full body workout, all from the comfort of a seat. Promoting movement, stretching and wellbeing, classes finish with a short meditation and refreshments.

The Creative Arts & Wellbeing Workshops are continuing to thrive with Christmas inspired Sand Arts at our regular monthly workshops in Loughton and Hainault. Everyone enjoys being creative and boosting their wellbeing. Sand Art is also perfect for keeping fingers nimble and minds active.

It’s been a busy time of the year for the team, but we managed a lovely Christmas celebration in early December, including our festive Christmas quiz! Team work makes the dream work. Tara celebrated her birthday this month and enjoyed time with her family. A big thank you to the team for all their hard work and dedication.

Did you know that a third of those aged over 65 and half of those aged over 80 fall at least once a year? It may well be the season to be jolly, but it’s also a precarious time for the elderly – with old and damp weather, slippery, icy conditions increasing the risk of accidentally falling outside for us all. But what can you do to help prevent falls at home?

If you are thinking about care or support for yourself or a loved one, our local team is here for a friendly chat.
We offer free consultations and can support with visiting care, live in care, and companionship care, all tailored around individual needs and routines.
