At Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, we are passionate about helping people age well and stay connected to the things that matter most. On 28 August 2025, we proudly partnered with the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn to host another memorable day out on the beautiful Ellesmere canal. Following the success of our July trip, which brought smiles, laughter and meaningful connections, this event offered another chance for people in our care to enjoy companionship in Shrewsbury and Oswestry in a truly unique way.
Our August canal cruise offered guests a calm and scenic journey towards Frankton. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, everyone had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the peaceful pace of life on the water. Our dedicated Care Professionals were on hand to provide practical support and reassurance throughout the trip, ensuring that all guests felt safe and comfortable.
The highlight of the day was a shared picnic lunch on board, where conversations flowed easily, and connections were made. These moments demonstrate the importance of creating opportunities for companionship in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and surrounding areas, helping people stay socially connected and improving overall wellbeing.

The collaboration between Radfield Home Care and the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn has been essential to the success of these special outings. By bringing together our expertise in personalised home care in Shrewsbury and Oswestry and the Rotary Club’s community-focused approach, we have been able to create an experience that celebrates connection and care.
Karen Corcoran, our Operations Manager at Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, reflected on the positive impact of the trips:
Our collaboration with the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn has shown what can be achieved when community-minded organisations work together. The July trip was uplifting, and we were thrilled to welcome a new group of clients in August to share in the same joy.

At Radfield Home Care, we are proud to champion care that people want as well as need. Events like these canal trips highlight our commitment to creating personalised support that goes beyond home care tasks, focusing on building relationships and fostering community connections.
David Morris, past president of the Rotary Club, played a key role in organising both canal cruises and has already expressed hopes of securing funding to offer more trips in 2026. With this partnership, we aim to continue supporting those we care for by promoting companionship in Shrewsbury and Oswestry, helping people enjoy life, stay active, and remain part of their community.
