It’s ‘test and treat’ time for Radfield’s care professionals

Carrying out regular covid testing is a way of life at Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry and keeping clients and care professionals safe is always the highest priority during Covid and at all other times. To thank their carers for their constant dedication and diligence towards testing, Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry have come up with a tasty reward, aptly named ‘Test and Treat’.

Prior to the covid-19 pandemic the Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry office was a hive of activity, but in recent times the office has of course adhered to the latest lockdown advice, including social distancing and working from home. Contact between the office and care professionals has become even more important, as has seeking new opportunities to reward carers for their hard work. This is something Karen Corcoran, business development manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury and Oswestry, and Sonya Cole, registered care manager, have been keen to address. Karen explains a little more about the testing process in place:

“On a weekly basis, either a Thursday or Friday, all of our carers come to the office to have a covid test and within 24 hrs they will receive their results. This is such an important couple of days to make sure that our carers and clients are kept safe. It is fantastic to work with a team that follows all the safety protocols to keep themselves and our clients safe – it’s just second nature to them.”

The test and treat activity was recently highlighted on Radfield Shrewsbury and Oswestry’s facebook page in March and Karen describes how it came about and why it’s so important:

“Both myself and Sonya are extremely proud to work with such a dedicated team. As a thank you to our carers twice a month we decided to introduce ‘Test and Treat’ days. After their test they all receive a treat, the cupcakes were a real success!

Before covid, all the carers would come to the office for meetings or just a cup of tea and they haven’t been able to do that, so test and treat was just a small way to make our carers still feel part of the Radfield family and to thank them for working safely.”

The test and treat idea was a welcome idea for the care professional team, with it providing both a chance to stay connected with the office and, of course, enjoy a tasty treat at the same time. Care professional, Kelly Redge, is a fan of ‘test and treat’:

“This is a lovely idea and makes me feel part of the team and that I am appreciated. It has been difficult not being able to pop into the office to have a cup of tea or meet up with the other carers and this has really helped.”
