Radfield Home Care Raffle ‘Giant’ Egg For ‘Shrewsbury Ark’

Local Elderly Home Care specialist Radfield Home Care based in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, were busy over the Easter period selling raffle tickets for a ‘giant’ Easter egg, with all monies raised going to The Shrewsbury Ark.

The Shrewsbury Ark, based in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury is a drop-in centre for homeless and vulnerable people, providing basic things that most people take for granted. Their clients can rely on the Ark for warm clothes, bedding, personal items and a hot meal or cup of tea and a chat when they need it. They also can provide professional advice or help to support their clients. When their clients are ready, they give them opportunities to build self-confidence and develop their potential.

Sally, Branch Manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury commented, ‘We have chosen The Shrewsbury Ark, as our local designated charity. It’s a wonderful local charity supporting vulnerable adult’s of all ages, including the elderly. You often think that the homeless are young vulnerable people, but actually there are lot of elderly homeless people that need our support. It’s also a really personal passion to support the homeless, and one that I have supported for many years. I also hold so much respect for the volunteers that work for the Shrewsbury Ark, they do a wonderful job.’

Sally also commented, “The giant Easter egg was donated to us by Magna Foods in Telford, a specialist confectioner, based in Stafford Park. I wrote to them some time ago with this idea, and they were extremely generous in donating such a fabulous large Easter egg; I had no idea that it was going to be so big!’ We were overwhelmed by the support, the number of tickets bought by our staff and the amount of people & passersby that popped in to buy a raffle ticket.’

The total amount of money raised was £153 and the branch proudly presented the cheque to this fantastic charity last week.

Rose from The Shrewsbury Ark commented, “Donations such as these mean that our clients can have food, drink and a safe warm place to go where they are not judged, but welcomed.  These donations allow us to provide the ongoing support to help our clients make a home and make a future for themselves.”

Radfield Home Care is keen to work with and support The Shrewsbury Ark on a longer term basis and is already looking at future events & activities to raise further money and create greater awareness to support the work they do.
