Record Turnout at Shrewsbury’s See, Hear, Remember Information Day

19 June 2026

Record Turnout at Shrewsbury’s See, Hear, Remember Information Day

More than 400 people attended the fourth annual See, Hear, Remember Information Day at Theatre Severn on 16 June 2026, making it the most successful event in its history. As the founders of this unique community initiative, we at Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry were delighted to welcome local people, families and carers seeking guidance, reassurance and practical advice.

Designed to support people living with dementia, sight loss and hearing loss, the event brought together 70 organisations, charities and service providers from across Shropshire. Visitors were able to discover local services, ask questions and speak directly with experts, all in one welcoming and accessible space.

Bringing local support together under one roof

When we first launched See, Hear, Remember four years ago, our goal was simple: make it easier for people to find the information and support they need without having to navigate multiple services independently.

Today, the event has grown into a valued community partnership between Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, Sight Loss Shropshire and Community Resource, with sponsorship from Ethical Workforce Solutions and U3A Shrewsbury.

Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with organisations including Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, Shropshire Council, the NHS, Armed Forces Outreach and many others. The event created a genuine “one stop shop” where visitors could ask questions, seek advice and discover services that could make a meaningful difference to their daily lives.

The impact of the event was reflected in the feedback from visitors. One attendee shared:

“I came to find out more about what is available for people with dementia. My father was recently diagnosed so I wanted to know what life might be like for us all in the years ahead. It was brilliant to talk to experts in all kinds of things.”

Another visitor explained how valuable it was to access information from multiple organisations in one place:

“I get so frustrated trying to get information about care for my wife who has vascular dementia and vision loss, but the See, Hear, Remember day meant that I got all I needed within an hour or two of visiting. And all the people were lovely!”

For many families across Shrewsbury, Oswestry and the surrounding areas, receiving the right guidance at the right time can make a significant difference. By bringing together trusted local organisations, the event helps people feel more informed, more confident and better connected to the help available throughout Shropshire.

Local organisations highlight the difference the event makes

The Information Day was also a valuable opportunity for organisations to connect with local residents, raise awareness of their services and collaborate with others supporting people living with dementia, sight loss and hearing loss across Shropshire.

Emma Wilde, Interim Head of Wellbeing & Friendship Services at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, praised the event, saying:

“Another fantastically organised and well attended event. We spoke to so many people about the support they can receive from us but signposted to many partners. For me this is the best event in the calendar!”

Les Wilkinson from Dementia Action Alliance also highlighted the positive impact the event had on visitors:

“The day was a resounding success, people were not just browsing, they were making enquiries, seeking advice and generally going away with information, direction or comfort which will help enormously with the journey they’re on.”

Their feedback reflects the unique role the event plays in connecting local people with organisations that can provide practical guidance, reassurance and ongoing support.

Helping our community stay connected to what matters most

Reflecting on the success of the event, Karen Corcoran, Regional Operations Manager for Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, said:

“We set up this event four years ago to make it easier for people, who have sometimes reached crisis point, to get the information and the support they needed in one place. Seeing the Information Day grow and develop is testament to the fact that it was desperately needed. It was so wonderful to see so many people getting tailored information and help that will truly make a difference in their lives.”

As a provider of home care in Shrewsbury and Oswestry, we see every day the difference that the right support can make. The continued success of See, Hear, Remember shows just how valuable it is to bring people, services and communities together.

We would like to thank every organisation, volunteer, sponsor and visitor who helped make this year’s event such a success. Together, we are helping to create a more connected and supportive community for people living with dementia, sight loss and hearing loss across Shropshire.
