Why we are launching an Adult Day Club in Northwood

There are certain moments in life that feel genuinely special.

For me, launching our new Adult Day Club in Northwood is one of them. Over the past few months, as I have been building Radfield Home Care Northwood, Ruislip & Uxbridge. I have had the privilege of meeting many local residents, family carers, charities and community organisations that support older people across our area.

One thing has become increasingly clear.

Addressing loneliness and isolation in Northwood

Whilst there are many wonderful organisations doing fantastic work in our community, there are still too many older people spending long periods of time alone at home. Sometimes family members live far away. Sometimes friends become less mobile. Sometimes confidence declines after illness or bereavement. And sometimes what begins as occasional loneliness gradually becomes isolation.

That is why I am so delighted to be taking the first step towards launching our Adult Day Club.

Collaborating with local organisations

What makes me particularly proud is that this club has not been designed in isolation. As we have developed the concept, I have sought insights from a number of local community organisations and professionals who work closely with older adults every day. Their experience and understanding of local needs have been invaluable.

My ambition is not to duplicate the excellent services already available but to complement them by providing another opportunity for older adults to spend time with others, build friendships and remain connected to their local community.

Bringing people together

The Northwood Adult Day Club will bring together companionship, meaningful activities, professional support and lunch in a welcoming environment. More importantly, I hope it will become a place where people feel comfortable, valued and part of something.

As a local resident myself, it is a privilege to be able to invest in something that I hope will make a meaningful difference to the lives of older people across Northwood, Moor Park, Ruislip, Eastcote, Ickenham and Uxbridge. We are still at the beginning of this journey, but I am excited to welcome our first members and to see new friendships, connections and memories formed in the months and years ahead.
