Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Memory Lane Day Centre, located in the picturesque community of Yeadon. Known locally for their dedicated dementia care services, Memory Lane provides specialised day-to-day home help and social care at home for older people experiencing dementia. Their compassionate approach aligns closely with Radfield Home Care’s values, including personalised care plans and trusted Care Professionals who support wellbeing at home.
One of the most remarkable features of Memory Lane Day Centre is its beautiful community garden, thoughtfully created in 2019. Previously an unused bin store, the garden has blossomed into an inspiring and tranquil outdoor space. With stunning views overlooking Yeadon Tarn, this unique garden offers not only a place of serenity but also serves as an important place of reflection and remembrance for those impacted by dementia.
Over the years, Memory Lane has sadly seen some of their beloved clients pass away due to the progression of dementia. To honour their memories, the garden features lovingly placed plaques on benches and garden furniture, commemorating the cherished individuals who have passed.
Radfield Home Care North Leeds & Ilkley has always emphasised the importance of working closely with other local care agencies and organisations. Our partnership with Memory Lane Day Centre is built on a shared commitment to delivering high-quality home care in North Leeds, including Alzheimer’s support and specialist dementia care for the people we support.
During Nathan’s recent visit, he met with Sadie, the Fundraising Manager for the Trust, and Ella, a Level 3 Care Professional at Memory Lane Day Centre. Nathan generously delivered a donation of vibrant plants on behalf of Radfield Home Care North Leeds & Ilkley to further enhance the beauty and warmth of the community garden. The gift symbolised our shared belief in the importance of fostering community connections and enhancing environments that support independent living and wellbeing at home.
Nathan’s visit exemplifies our commitment to more than just personal care or rehabilitation at home; it highlights our dedication to playing an active role in the community and providing holistic support for older people and their families.
