The term sandwich generation refers to a group of people, typically in their 40s, 50s, or 60s, who find themselves “sandwiched” between two generations. They are often raising their own children while simultaneously supporting ageing parents.
At Radfield Home Care, we are a family and we believe passionately in being on your side. We understand that looking after an ageing parent is a significant commitment that often develops gradually. A “carent” is an adult child who provides unpaid care or support to one or both ageing parents, in-laws, or elderly relatives. There are currently over 4 million carents in the UK, making up 57% of all carers. Despite their vital role, many do not identify as “carers”; they simply see themselves as a son or daughter helping out.
