At Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere port, we believe that truly exceptional care goes beyond supporting daily routines; it is about creating meaningful moments that bring joy, connection, and a sense of purpose.
Our Be There Moments reflect this philosophy, where our Care Professionals take the time to understand what truly matters to each individual we support. These moments are often simple yet deeply powerful, helping people stay connected to their passions, their communities, and themselves.

This month’s Be There Moment was for our lovely client Doreen. Our Client Services Coordinator, Di, discovered a local dementia singing group and immediately knew it would be something Doreen would love. As someone who is always bursting into song at the day centre she attends each week, music is something that brings Doreen so much joy.
The group, called the dementia friendly singing group, takes place every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at Vicars Cross Community Centre in Chester. It offers a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia to come together through music.
Sure enough, Doreen absolutely loved the group and got thoroughly stuck in from the moment she arrived. It was wonderful to see her enjoying herself so much, and we have a feeling that the Wednesday singing group may become a regular outing for Di and Doreen moving forward.

Moments like these highlight the importance of personalised home care services. By understanding Doreen’s interests, we created an experience that lifted her spirits and strengthened her sense of belonging.
Music is widely recognised within dementia care in the UK as a powerful way to spark memories, reduce anxiety and encourage social interaction.
Music is a vital tool in dementia care because it accesses parts of the brain that remain unaffected by the condition for longer. For many of our clients in Chester, familiar songs can:
Spark Memories: Melodies often trigger “reminiscence,” helping individuals recall specific life events or emotions.
Reduce Anxiety: The rhythm and harmony of music provide a calming influence, lowering stress levels and agitation.
Encourage Social Interaction: Group activities, like the Vicars Cross singing group, provide a shared sense of purpose and reduce feelings of isolation.

Every individual we support has a unique story, and our approach reflects this. Our Care Professionals are carefully matched with clients, enabling trusted relationships and truly person-centred care at home.
Experiences like Doreen’s remind us that meaningful engagement plays a vital role in wellbeing. For those receiving elderly care at home, opportunities to connect and take part in enjoyable activities can make a significant difference to daily life.
Alongside our care at home, our day care services provide a safe, welcoming environment where individuals can socialise, enjoy activities and feel part of a community. These sessions are especially beneficial for those living with dementia, offering routine, stimulation and reassurance.
They also provide valuable respite for families, knowing their loved ones are supported by experienced Care Professionals in a nurturing setting.
At Radfield Home Care, we are proud to deliver high-quality home care in Chester that goes beyond the practical. Doreen’s story shows how personalised support and genuine understanding can turn a simple activity into something truly meaningful.
We remain committed to helping people stay independent, connected and fulfilled through compassionate, relationship-led care.
